Weave Challenge 2012

Hi Ladies!

Anyone care to join me in a weave challenge for 2012?

Let's be clear - this is not a slap it in and ignore your hair underneath type of challenge. Here are the rules:

  • Post your starting length and your goal length.
  • Use this thread to check in, post products and vendors, etc.
  • If you see someone making progress, ask, ask, ask questions of their routine!
  • Trim ends if needed (recommended especially before the first install...if you take care of your hair properly through the year, you won't need more than 2 or 3 trims for the year).
  • Properly condition and treat hair. This includes putting the hair in proper balance. Right now, I am taking the next couple of weekends to get hair properly moisturized. Then I'll do a good protein treatment before the install.
  • The number of installs should be based on your preference - includes the hair you have chosen and whoever installs the hair.

Let me know if there are any other "rules" that you think should be added.

Hope to get some people to join me in 2012!!

sooo how is everyone doing I will be putting in a new sew-in later 2day I have dusted a little bit of those ssks - however i have noticed my hair s getting thicker :)

I'd like to join as well if I can. I never saw this thread. So far I've had one sewin this year. I experimented with cheap hair and I kept it in for about a month. I'm treating my hair for my next sewin in April. While my hair is in it I make a sprits of water, aloe, and jbco. I spritz that in my scalp every few days. I think my next hair will be some type of kinky straight. I'm buying from senghori shells or glamour house of hair. I do all my sewins myself.

Im still here although i am itching to take this weave out im holding out to leave it in fro 5 weeks with special care but it just gone week 3 n im ready to take it out ahhhhhhhh wel see how long i last

MekyakaKinkerbelle I like it i mainly use it as my mid step relaxer protein i also use the aphogee 2 min as well its good it does the trick BUT you do have to use a moisturizing cond after with the aphogee 2 min you do not

I'm unofficially in. I've been wearing weaves since November. I've gotten them taken out for a 1-3 weeks as a break. At the beginning of the year, my natural pressed out was at the top my shoulders. Sorry no pics. About two weeks ago, my hair has gotten a little bit more past my shoulders even after I got it trimmed. I have a net which is the healthier alternative for my scalp and the condition of my weave. I tried net less weaves and I've noticed a difference. My hair not breaking off so much is the biggest plus. I've got to find my applicator bottles now, as it is time to oil my scalp with my Vatika/olive oil mix.

Checking in: I'm on my second long set. Redid my hair in March, tested my hairs condition and strength and I was quite pleased. I will go 3-4 months. When I take down in July, that will make one full year! I wash & deep condition weekly; and spritz and seal every other day. My next set will probably be my last-- and it will take me to the end of the year(!!). From there I will decide if a another shorter sew in is warranted. I wish this thread was more active, this is my main challenge for the year! We need more check ins before I start tagging ppl.

I'm going to start a new six month challenge to see if we can get some participation going! This thread looks like its not going to pick up
