Added all the newcomers and updated the first post linking to starting pics and reggies. :D If I'm missing yours, lemme know!

What are your hair plans for new year's? I am SO tempted to bust out the flatiron and wear my hair down, but that defeats the whole point of a "no heat" challenge! :nono:

Ooh I would like to join! I will be uploading a start-up pic soon (I'm a newbie)
My regimen:
Wash & DC once a week
Alternating weekly between Protein and Moisturising conditioners.
Moisturise nightly with Elasta QP Mango Butter and seal with KeraCare essential oils.
Bunning 90% of the time

Bump! Hi ladies, hope everyone's doing good! Just a reminder that there'll be a check-in next week thursday, January 14th!

I've had a tiny tiny setback :(, a bit of shedding possibly from MN. I'm going to hold off on it until I get some garlic in my reggie. But I still managed to keep my flat iron away from my head (surprisingly!) I haven't used direct heat on my head since December 4th, exactly 1 month ago. :D I'm so proud because I used to break out that sucker every second day or so.

I'm going to hold off on the relaxer and I'm trying to find an appropriate (heat free) style for my job interview on the 21st. This long stretch is almost unbearable and I don't think my glow in the dark headbands would go over too well. :O

Hi just checking in with my starting pic and my regimen

prepoo with oils or moisturizing/protein con, shampoo and DC w/heat once a week with protein/moisturizing con or both, dusting only - no trims, rollerset or air dry in twists/braids

Thanks for the reminder. I'll make sure to post pics on the check-in date. So I twisted my hair using marley braid extensions. Can't say I'm too crazy about it but I think it will do till February. I did the braids so that I would stop messing with my hair for a while.
I plan to get a trim when I take them down and attempt to textured my new growth. It's been two months since my last relaxer and I have lots of new growth. Lately, I have been thinking about doing a big chop... I don't know yet.

Hey guys just checking in. I've been keeping it simple and it's been working. The pic in my siggy was 2 months ago and I was APL and now I'm past APL:grin:Here is my regimen: wash weekly no specific day with Creme of Nature Detangling Shampoo, Deep condition with Elasta QP (i added oils )for 20 minutes. I use JBCO for my hair and scalp pin it up and baggy until next wash day. I should be very close to BSL in March:yep:

Checking in!
Things have been going okay for me. I've kept up with my weekly regimen since the challenge began and have been moisturizing, baggying, sealing, and bunning religiously and I think my hair has really been thanking me. My hair looks a hot mess at the moment because it needs to be washed, but my ends feel pretty good and I've been seeing minimal breaking and shedding.
Aside from the daily stuff, I've also been remembering to oil my scalp with JBCO twice a week. Although I tend to have a well-behaved scalp, it's not freaking out now, so I guess the JBCO has been good for me.
I did slack off on the vitamins for about a week, but I'm back on them. And I've been pretty good with my water. I don't get the full 64 Oz everyday, but I know that I get at least 50 oz.
And I think that's pretty much it. Below is my progress picture.
The one in the towel is my starting one, and I took it on December 26, 2009.
The one without the towel was taken today, January 14, 2009.
(I know, I did it backwards...next time, I'll put them in the right order)

The one I took today isn't flat ironed like my starting picture, but in this case, I don't think that makes a difference. IMO, they weren't taken far enough apart for anything to really have happened. Especially because my hair in particular grows like molasses.

Checking in. I am sitting here with a paste of amla and bringraj on my scalp to aid with growth. I really like the results I am getting this month. Tomorrow I will DC with Baba de Caracol with heat.

I forgot to post my starting pics and reggie too, but seeing as how my new vow is to KISS, I'm playing along for fun at this point. I've done pretty well at keeping my hands otta my hair by ponies and bunning almost daily. I am in the rollerset challenge too but I experience too much breakage when I just rollerset (which defeats the purpose right?). So I do a very light flat iron after the rollerset on the lowest setting (Maxiglide).
My product reggie is simple poo w/CON green or Roux Porosity control (my hair seems to really like it). I continue w/ the dc (w/Humectress or ORS moisturzing..., heat for 20-30 min. Rinse, apply leave in (Kpak Reconstruct or H2O and Infusium, then seal w/ castor oil and roller set. 2hours later, I'm ready for my light flatiron and then I bun for curls.

Checking in!! I'm a newbie so I guess this could also double up as my starting pic. Been doing a lot of bunning and this pic is following a cw with Nexxus Enphuse (was experiencing a lil too much breakage for my liking), however it seems everyone here uses Aphogee 2 min or Joico k-Pak so I'm gonna give that a try.

Well, after a month it doesn't look like I've made too much of a difference. I started shedding when I was using the MN, so I stopped using it for now. I also lost a lot of hair detangling every day. My protective styles didn't seem to be protecting my ends enough because they'd always felt extremely dry. They didn't seem to improve until I started doing braided buns instead. Unfortunately, I only discovered that in the 3rd week.

For the next 4 weeks, I'm going to be doing:
-braided buns
-less manipulation
-cowash every second week (shampooing my hair every week made it feel really dry)
-mn with garlic
-search and destroy the bad ends!

Next week friday I'm having my hair flatironed for my job interview, so that will be my officially January length check. Can't wait to see it after 4 months post!

Keep up the good work ladies, only 4 weeks to go!

Can't wait for friday, it'll be the first time I will have my hair flatironed in about 6 weeks. I want to give henna-indigo a try, but I've never done it before. I don't want to have another setback by trying something new. :(

Oops, I totally forgot to check in. So I braided my hair up in mid-back length kinky twists hoping to keep them in until the end of this challenge but the synthetic hair was driving me crazy so I took them out last week.
I washed my hair with a clarifying shampoo which surprisingly didn't dry out my scalp too bad and have gone back to my routine of braid outs. I still have hair breakage but it is not as bad as in Dec. Another trim February should help with that.

Im hoping to relax in the next week or so to see my real growth, Im pretty excited. I havent had a proper relaxer since last April, the last relaxer in October did not work well and I never go around to doing a corrective relaxer. Hopefully Ill be almost full collarbone length with some thickness up in there. I might trim my hair to even the layer and get rid of thin and split ends.

Just checking in guys....hope everyone is having great progress:yep:
I am baggying and bunning still and so far so good. My hair is getting thicker since i been using the JBCO:lick:

So, I took my twists out two weeks early and haven't done much with my hair since. I haven't decided what I want to do with it yet. My hair has grown a lot though and I will be completing my personal 4 month relaxer stretch on the 15th. :)
Sadly, I will have to get a trim because my hair is still breaking off from suffering heat damage and over-processed perms. So I'm contemplating doing either a big chop or continuing to get trims every other month until all the damaged hair is gone. I can't wait to be able to run my fingers through my hair without it breaking off! lol
Also, I want to thank Evo-ny for coming up with this challenge it really helped me set a goal for my hair and see it through and it was worth it. :D I shall be rockin' a braid out today!
And happy V'day!
