Twist/Braid/Bun For Growth Challenge 4/1/13 - 6/30/13

I don't think its bad. If you go to the shop most likely they will blow it out anyway. To prep my hair i do a protein n deep condish a week before then again the day or so before. not sure if we can post links to our blogs but pm me, cause i wrote a whole post about my preparation.

Thank you : )

Put in my flat twist tonight. What I have in my mind seems easy but as soon as I make the first part I realize it won't work out that way  Two more inches of hair will make ll the difference in putting in flat twist. Will just tough it out until then.

1. What is your primary style (twists, braids, bunning, etc.)? Bun, or Two strand twists in a bun,
2. What is your style maintenance regimen? My regimen is: Sunday (prepoo&detangle w/Tresemme Naturals Conditioner and oil mix) Cowash w/Tresemme naturals conditioner (occasionally I'll shampoo my hair w/kinky curly come clean) Two strand twist my hair w/water and my oil mix, or Jane Carter's Shea butter, or w/Tresseme naturals conditioner and my oil mix. (Lol I use Tresseme a lot) New: since I started bunning my hair I either two strand twist w/Eco styler, water, and bun it, or bun it on loose hair w/water and Eco styler.
3. Are you natural, relaxed, transitioning? Everything is natural but the last two inches or so

4. What do you hope to achieve from the challenge? A way to incorporate more PS into my regimen, health, some growth, stop over manipulating hair
5. After wearing your hair out will you restyle after [Pick One] 2 days or 3 days? 2 days

6. Include Starting Pic ASAP. (You will not be named an official challenger without one).

After I cowashed my twists, I rolled the ends on perm rods as suggested up thread to combat ssk's. It really worked well! Thanks for the suggestion. I will be doing this from now on. Pics are below.

Get kinky twists, that way you can dance the night away without worrying about sweating your style out. Have fun!

I'm doing fine. My hair had mostly been in twists. I just had cornrows in the front and large twists in the back for two weeks. Last week I did a twist out puff and it came out cute. Sorry sideways.

I'm still styling my hair into twists. My styles don't last long, so I'm restyling daily for a neater look. This is actually working well for me.

I just made a month in my mini-twists, plan on keeping them in 8weeks. So far so good. The weekly DC's are going well & the refreshing co-washes. My warm months are so free b/c I can randomly co-wash, oil rinse or DC and just GO!

So I've got my appointment for Senegalese twists for June 9, very excited! Planning on keeping them in around 12 weeks. I am getting color #33 added in for auburn highlights. Never had them done, but what's the upkeep like? How do I wash them?

What is your hair type? How do you keep your mini-twists looking fresh? I have a mix of 3c, 4a hair with 4b at the crown only. My hair frizzes after two weeks.

I co-wash them/dc often -- and they look brand new afterwards. They spiral and plumpen. I spritz w/my Califia Moisture Spray or water daily, apply leave-in, then seal (LCO method). IN other words, I keep them moist and am careful that they don't dry out. I have 4b/c hair.

My second curliversary was on the 22nd, so I did a blowout. However, I believe I won't be doing it anymore after this year because blowing out my hair in the heat is not appealing to me anymore with my increased length. My hair almost instantly reverted. I will stick to my once a year flat iron in November or December instead. I am bunning it until Monday when I will start mini twists with braided roots.

I've had the same mini twists in for 2.5 weeks. They look fine, but will probably get fuzzy after I wash. Then I'll take them out and wear the twistout for a while before retwisting. I think I'll straighten sometime next month.

I have been maintaining the same two flat twists joined into one big two-stranded twist for the past three weeks. Even when I pressed my hair (lightly). I need something new, but need time to do it.

Still twisting. Here is this week's style.

My current mini twists with braided roots from the blowout, and a comparison picture with last year's twists at around the same time.

My twists don't look as great as some ladies here. Still, I love what they look like on me. My twist out never look good.:lachen: :nono: My hair must get longer, I guess.

Ladies how should I prepare for my Senegalese twists tomorrow? I'm going to do a protein treatment tonight and airdry overnight. Should I let her twist my edges? Since I've been bunning, I've gotten a lot of breakage in the back and the twists can help grow that back.

Joining late but I just took down my box braids.

1. What is your primary style (twists, braids, bunning, etc.)? Twists

2. What is your style maintenance regimen? Wash weekly. I've revamped my regimen adding prepooing, steaming and using Roux porosity control.

3. Are you natural, relaxed, transitioning? Natural, 4C, collarbone length
image-740907724.jpg

4. What do you hope to achieve from the challenge?
Prevent breakage. Moisture retention.

5. After wearing your hair out will you restyle after [Pick One] 2 days or 3 days? 2

6. Include Starting Pic ASAP. (You will not be named an official challenger without one).

I know it is selfish but I'm glad this thread hasn't been busier. I only had to catch up on 1 page. :look:

I dropped out but I'm dropping back in. I took a hiatus in May and put in some kinky twists. I wore them for 3 weeks but they were driving me crazy. I took them out Wednesday. I put in 2 strand twists yesterday for the first time since my BC last August. Finally! Now I can get back to twisting my hair every week. It is still pretty short but they are decent enough to wear outside. I will finish up this challenge and get ready for the next round in July.

Lol we are quite similar. I also dropped out and got kinky twists. It's been like three weeks and I'm already sick of them lol. Every once in a while I take one down and two strand twist it.

Congrats on your progress !
