Earlier this year I had an allergic reaction to mn, which long story short cause me to shave my head. It left a little bump/mole on my scalp. I went to the dermatologist and was told that it was a mole...no big deal according to the dr. At first it was small and NOT sensitive all.... dely reaction to heat. Now, 7, 8, 9 months later, after trying my new steamer several time tihs sucker is sooooo sensitive to heat and it is larger. The growth is not the cause of the steamer, it was already growing it just wasn't sensitive.

Have anyone had or has this problem? Or know how to treat it. I have a friend that suggested to have remove by laser. Can they laser it even though it is very irritated/hurts??? I have an appt next Monday, but until do anyone have any suggestions.

Didn't the doctor say anything about what you are to do about it?

I have a bump on my head that I've had since I was a kid. Sometimes I think it's sensitive, or the skin beside it. Most times I hardly remember it's there. When I was a teen or preteen, I had an overactive/sick imagination and announced my discovery of it by saying I thought I had a cancerous lump, worrying my mom and dad to insomnia. :spank: A doctor who examined it said it was nothing to worry about, although he didn't really do any invasive test. So I just don't worry about it. But it doesn't grow.

But if yours just started the other day and is behaving differently from how it was when you saw your derm, you should get a second opinion. Maybe just go to your general practitioner and let him refer you to the appropriate specialist.

He said it was a mole and nothing to worry about. At 1st it ws really tiny. I think it is best to get a 2nd opinion. Like you said yours did not get any larger and you had it for years. I never thought cancerous, just MOLE, but he did not do any tests. I'm a little scared now.

No, don't be scared, but do get it checked out. If it had been that serious, I think you'd have had other symptoms like headaches, dizziness.... I dunno. And your doctor would've been more worried, but he wasn't. So don't let the ignorance of my youth get you upset. It may not even be getting bigger. It may just be that you're aware of it so much that you imagine it's bigger. But get it checked out by your GP so that he can order the necessary tests to eliminate all worry.

The dermatologist should know if it is cancerous or not by looking at it. Make an appointment with a plastic surgeon. They know how to remove moles and lesions without shaving your hair. They will send the mole to pathology and have them look at it under a microscope. Then the surgeon will tell you the results. You should not have to go to sleep for this. He should numb the area with medication. I have been a surgical nurse for 12 years. hope this helps.

Thank Huricane,
I am not considering cutting myhair just the mole. I have already cut my hair months ago and there is no need for that experience again. But I will surely look into the surgeon for removal. Thanks again for putting my mind a little at ease.
