Refusing to relax broken sections

I have some serious breakage at my nape on each side...the middle is fine but those sides and also, any other place the edges of my satin scarf come into contact with have broken badly...I understand this is from tying it too tight and am rectifying that, BUT in the meantime, as it grows back out...would it be a good idea to not relax the broken sections to prevent any more unnecessary damage? The texture of these sections leads me to believe it is mostly new growth but I havent been able to inspect closely so I dont want to mess with it...so..relax these parts along witht he rest, or wait a while?

My nape started breaking too from my tying my satin scarf too tight there. I'm going to hold off relaxing my nape for a while. In the meantime, I am now wearing a satin cap over my hair, with a satin scarf or a stocking cap over it so it's snug. I'm giving extra care to my nape area, moisturizing even more and adding castor oil. So far, so good.
