Hello ladies!

I still got it!! My natural shine has not left the building. My edges are still here! My nape is thanking me! My hair DIDN'T take ANY hits from those bloodthirsty micros!!

your hair is so gorgeous

Your hair looks so full and shiny. Good luck with your transition. I can't wait for my relaxed ends to be gone too.:spinning:

How did you maintain your braids? How was the braid take down? Did you detangle your hair dry and then wash it or did you soak it in conditioner/oil and then detangle?

Nice shine! Go Girl! What was your reggie in braids? And how did you keep from losing your edges?

Braids Reggie:
A few days after I got the braids, I clarified because the braider put a little hair gel in the braids, and I hate hair gel lol.
After I clarified, I put Miconazole Nitrate on my scalp and then my mixture of Mega Tek, Boundless Tresses, Lenzi's Request, and MTG on my edges as well as the rest of my hair, but I focused on my hard to grow areas, the nape, and edges. It sounds like a lot, but it really isn't if you keep in mind that a little goes a long way. I clarified once a week to avoid buildup, and that worked great, I ended up getting maximum growth. To moisture my actual hair, I used EVOO. Moisture is key KEY KEY. I got tons of growth on my edges, and some occasionally slipped out of the braid, so some of my natural hair was exposed, so I took my growth aid mixture (it also serves as my moisturizer and protein thingy), put some on the exposed piece, and wrapped it around the nearest braid. It looked fresh. The hair would naturally coil around the braid, looking as if it were apart of the braid.
It's really simple. I really only used 2 things on my hair this whole time. The MN and the growth aid mix.

I moisturized. That was the main helper in maintaining my braids. The braid take down was so easy! I did it on a 6 hour drive home from Philly. I started a little bit a few days before in the back, so I could still start the take down process and wear a low ponytail. Keeping your hair moisturized really does play a big part in the take down. I didn't detangle before I washed because I was too eager to wash. I didn't prepoo either. I did put a handful of EVOO in my hair as I was getting the shower ready. In the shower, I clarified twice, and then clarified one more time, adding extra virgin olive oil in my hands with the clarifier. I washed that out and then got out and sprayed my hair with heat protectant while it was wet (VO5). I didn't use conditioner. Then I felt my hair to see if it had slip (it didn't) so I added a little EVOO. My hair on the roots were curly and free but my relaxed ends were MATTED! Of course I didn't know until I combed it when it was dry. But I successfully detangled by combing, and in the process ripped out what I am 100% positive were shed hairs. They were all over the floor.

The end product was great, though!

I'm a true believer in dry detangling because my hair is very weak when wet, and very strong when dry, so it may vary for you.

Looks like you did very well in braids. Next time can you please put up a warning that shades are needed to view the pics. That bling, Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrl!!!

Braids are good for lots of folks. I transitioned soley in braids, and I know lots of folks are against them - however - they were GRRREAT for me!

Wonderful progress! I have braids in right now...so im gonna try your detangling method when I'm ready to take them down..u are a C&G inspiration!!
