Hi ladies, I am so happy about transitioning. My last perm was November 2007 and I have been wearing protective styles (sew ins, braids, quick weaves) and getting Dominican blow outs every couple of months.

Now that I have so much "new growth" how do I protect it? I am sick of wearing a sew in....I do not want to BC until November 2008. Any advice you have for a newbie would be great!! THANKS!!

Hello Honey-dip.

Welcome to the board.
I am also transitioning, PM me any time if you need answers.

I'm glad to hear that your transition is going well.
Have you tried
Braidouts?
Twistouts?
Flexirod sets?
Bunning?

Those work well when dealing with the 2 textures.

how much new growth do you have now?

If you look in my album, you will see various transitioning styles.
There are tons of cornrow styles because that's my Fallback style but there are others in there too.

Good luck.

:welcome:

My last relaxer was in January of 2007, so I have been at this for about 18 months...

I am a SUPER-bunner. This has been my staple "transitioning style." When I get bored (or when I am stepping out!) I put on a wig or phony pony.

Good luck with your transition and feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

OH! I forgot to add, stay on top of your moisture game! I attribute the fact that I've lasted so long to my reggie being EXTENSIVELY moisture-rich.

Good luck!
