I was clarifying about once each year (yes, I know) with Suave Clarifying shampoo until recently. I decided to try the baking soda/shampoo method some of the ladies here have raved about.
I add a teaspoon of baking soda into the amount of shampoo I'm going to use (Botanoil), mix it together in my hand and apply. The baking soda seems to break down the thickness of my shampoo (gets runnier) so I have apply it quickly. After rinsing, I follow up with my usual moisturizing conditioner (Humectress) for deep conditioning.
I knew I needed to clarify because my hair felt very coated even after poo washing. It was from a really good product I tried for the first time recently (free sample) that had cones in it. After clarifying, I noticed my conditioner seemed to work better than it has in a long time - more moisturized, more slip and softer hair.
I've now clarified 3 hair washes in a row, and I didn't need to the last 2 times. It was just so gentle and I love the way my hair felt when I was all done. I'm going to do this just twice each month now.
