I'm donating today. This is such a tragedy, and I have been, and continue to pray daily, for all those people over there who have lost a loved one and their homes--so sad!

I've donated twice to Yele and will be donating to Doctors Without Borders. I would also like information about organizations in California sending items to Haiti please PM me if you have any info

I donated to Doctors without Borders...Also, be sure to check for local clothing and necessities drives at local churches, hotels, and organizations.

Is there some way you can donate not via text messaging that is sure to reach those who really need it?

Local donation sites (for clothes, etc.) for anyone in H-town:

Here's a list of local organizations' relief efforts, followed by ways to donate:

The Multi-ethnic Community Center of Southwest Houston is accepting donations of food, water, clothing, medical supplies and other goods from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays at 9819 Bissonnet St.

St. Paul's United Methodist Church is raising money for humanitarian efforts by the church's committee on relief, through its Web site. The church, located at 5501 Main St., is also holding a prayer service for Haiti on Monday, Jan. 25 at 6 p.m.

The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston is holding a special collection for earthquake survivors at all area church services on Saturday, Jan. 16 and Sunday, Jan. 17.

Glorious Way Church is sending donations made on its site and marked "missions" to Haiti.

My stepfather went to Haiti to see about kidney transplant surgery. I have no idea where he is now. I called this number that connects you to the American Embassy, which helps you to find displaced American citizens who are in Haiti. I filed a report for my stepfather, so hopefully they can find him.

If you have a loved one in Haiti and want to see if they are OK, call this number: 1-888-407-4747

Just donated to the Red Cross specifically for Haiti. I just can't imagine the devastation. I send my prayers to everyone in Haiti.
