February 2020: Hits & Misses

Miss:

This weather
Glycerin during the cold weather months
Sirod Naturals Soapnut shampoo as a clarifier. It is a great shampoo, but does not clarify. I will keep it in my rotation.

Hits:

Bamboo Tea- my strands are slightly thicker and new hair strands are appearing
Sirod Naturals Fermented Black Rice Spray- I should have never stopped this spray. It's a must have for my scalp, especially if I'm trying to stretch out my wash weeks.
Redken Cleansing Cream- I forgot all about it in the back of my cabinet. I thought the Ayurvedic soapnut shampoo I was using was clarifying enough. Lies and fallacies.

Hits

Chebe DIY mask with coconut milk, powder and SM Base mask, steam did it thing with this.

Melanin Haircare LI so far, added it on bare hair after rinsing mask out. My hair is about 85 % dry and it’s fluffy and soft.

Miss
The smell of Melanin Haircare LI, I do not like spearmint scented products.

My new shower head water pressure is low. I have to figure out what’s going on. I wasn’t able to rinse my hair well in the shower.

Bellebarorganics Fenugreek sample mix in.
Nothing to write home about. The sample was not the recommended amount on the directions. The powder was bone dry like ground up fenugreek seeds, even though the package says it has oil in it.
My hair was a tangled mess. I had to co wash and re condition my hair. Glad it was a sample.

New Hits:
Nature's Little Secret Rose Hydrating Deep Conditioner
Nature's Little Secret Fenugreek Detangling Pre-Poo
Nature's Little Secret Milk Strengthening DC'er (with Coconut & Goat's Milk)

On The Fence:
Nature's Little Secret (I had a Customer Service Issue with them which is giving me "pause")

Based on that experience I may not repurchase anything else from them, which is why I pulled everything out to use up.

Extreme Major Hit
Design Essentials Almond & Avocado Moisturizing & Detangling Shampoo

It's true that it really does detangle. I easily ran my comb through my hair as I was rinsing this shampoo out.

Miss
The "tingle" in Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle conditioner. I just don't like the cooling sensation on my scalp from the peppermint & eucalyptus.

Saving $3 - $5 on a product by going to target.com or the Target app while I'm in the store, and showing the cashier the online price.

They just go ahead and change the price without having to call a manager over.

I've done this with Design Essentials shampoo and a couple of Kinky Curly products that are priced higher in the store than online.

I do this all the time in Target. A lot items are priced cheaper online.

Continued hits.

PJN Rice Water Daily cream. The slip in this line is so nice and I love the scent. Nice refresher.
PJN Rosemary Ginger Ayurvedic Hair oil. Everything I like in an oil. Creamy, softening, Ayurvedic heaven.

Major Hits for Me:
TGIN Moisture Rich Shampoo
TGIN Honey Miracle Hair Mask

With these two products, my hair has never felt so moisturized after a wash day. Plus despite being a more moisturizing shampoo, my scalp was cleaaaan when I washed it after two weeks! I'm so happy and intrigued that I might buy their Leave In Conditioner when my As I Am runs out soon!

Best hit ever.
Not an exaggeration:
The behairful brush.

I have and have tried a ton of brushes to tame my natural hair....and have settled on tangle teaser type brushes which have cut my detangling sessions from hours to 15 -30min.

This behairful brush had my whole head detangled and tamed in literally 3 to 5 minutes.
First pass through, only water, second pass through, I detangled with a whole head of shampoo, third pass through, I brushed individual sections to twist it up for my deep conditioner.

Stunned.
Easiest wash session I've had in life.

Reiterated hit: Wow Skin Science ACV shampoo and Avocado oil & coconut oil conditioner.

I didn't put anything in my hair after washing on Saturday afternoon and my hair is still really soft. I just did two shower braids then took those down Sunday night.

Continued Hit(s) in no particular order:
Virgin Hair Fertilizer (I like the way it feels)
UFD Midnite Train
UFD "Bye Bye Buildup" Clay Cleansing Conditioner
Camille Rose Cocoa Nibs
Curls Blueberry & Mint Scalp Tea
Alikay "Cowash Me"

Initial Hit:
ST'icals Master Cleanse Detox (next time I'll use it per the instructions):look: so I can get a better feel overall for the product.

Miss:
Pour CS from on-line vendors in 2020:nono:
