Do you have a life outside of your church?

I was curious to see how many women have a life besides their church life. I mean besides going to church every day of the week. I don't mean a life with out Jesus...I mean does your life revolve around your church home.

I know someone that will not go away because she does not want to miss Sunday service at her church. Even when she is told by friends & family that she can just attend their church ( wherever it is she is going).

She acts like Grandma Moses...she is only 36. And all she talks about is Chruch/Jesus etc. An example would be :

Me: Hi such and such how are you?

Her: I am well, and you.

Me: Im good too, I was just coming from the market I had to get some toothpaste and soap.

Her: Oh well, I have to thank the lord that I have teeth to brush!!! amen!! I got my uniform...did I tell you I am on the deaconess board?

Me:Yeah you did. Thats great! (this is literally the 50th time she mentioned it)

Her: yep! I know my little girl will grow up to be an evangalist (she is 4) she always having church. ( she means playing I guess)

I can't understand...is it me???????

This is hilarious! I know people JUST like that from my church in Alabama. Girl sometimes I wonder if those people feel like they have to convince other people how "holy" they are. It reminds me of the old days before Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the church and believers thought that they had to work their way into heaven instead of believing.

There are other things I do outside of church, but I make sure that they don't compromise my walk with him. I try to think "Would Jesus be comfortable here?" That's really helped me in regards to my activities outside the church.

My life revolves around my church, I go at least 2 times a week and most of my friends attend my church so I socialise with them outside of church. But I don't try to act like some "holy roller", there's a time, place and way to talk about our faith.

I think that there are a lot of over zealous Christians. Some of my co-workers behave as you indicated and sometimes it makes people uncomfortable. I may mention that I am going to church on Sunday or I may say "God Bless You" or "Praise the Lord" to my fellow Christian brothers and sisters. But, I will not make others uncomfortable.

Girl, that ain't nothing but zeal. Sometimes esp. when folks just get saved, they tend to act like that. If they have been saved umpteen years, then they have probably fallen into a religious pattern. I am currently in an area where there isn't a lot to do, so there are a lot of activities that you can participate in that involve church, but that isn't the only thing you do or place you go.

Thanks ladies,

I appreciate your replies. I just thought it was me  I mean I believe that you should live your life in a way that would be pleasing to God, but I also believe that you don't have to over do it. He knows your heart, so you don 't have to prove anything to anyone...It just seems overdone.

Funny this topic is here. I was wondering why I no longer have a desire for all the things outside of church that used to bring me joy? I am praying for the strength to be still.

I think some people need this in some points of their life to stay focus. I rather see her doing this then chasing someone's husband. So of us needed seasons in our lives where we were buried under the Church with activities but in the long run it will help her. Just pray that what she is doing is in God's perfect will and let God give her balance when it is time. :)
