Brittle hair help......

I went to my dermotologist today and was told I have 'brittle' hair and need to use gentle salon products for my hair........which I need advise on.

Background.......I have naturally curly friz prone caucasian hair which I often pull back wet into a pony tail (which can be my problem). I have been losing LOTS of hair due to breakage. I only color my hair maybe twice/three times a year. For the past few weeks I have been using Redken Extreme Anti Snap shampoo & condition plus the leave in conditioner. I have also used twice in the last month the Redken Fuel Protein treatments and I really haven't seen much help as of yet.

I am wondering if I am using the right products and would love some suggestions ~ Thanks ~ Steph

hello Steph

Well the first thing I think you know might not help is pulling your hair into a ponytail while it is wet. Wet hair is at a very fragile state...I would not recommend this.
You were told you have brittle hair... in my humble opinion, you might need moisture, not that much protein... I'll refer you to a link I copied and pasted into my hair documentation.

Dove and Neutrogena Triple Moisture leave-in might help but don't take my word for it. Read and research. Try out products. Drink tons of water.

I hope it helps

Thanks guys you've been really helpful...........I didn't realize before I signed up this was geared more toward ethnic hair. Oh well....I still got some good info and am now trying on the The Long Hair Community for some solutions also. Thanks!

Hi Steph, you sound like you could have od'ed on protein. You should get a good moisturising conditioner to balance it out for salon brands Nexxus Humectress gets a thumbs up, I've heard good things about biolage smootherapie line, also bumble and bumble do a good moisturising leave-in rinse out conditioner. Hope that helps:)
