Blo Salon experience - Boston **pictures**

9/26/14 EDIT:
I went to the salon 4 times between April - Sept and now my ends have heat damage. I am not blaming the stylist because she did what she needed to do to get my hair done. I blame MYSELF because I should have known better. I normally go to the salon 1 or 2 times a year and never ever allow so much heat on my hair. Lesson learned! My hair is long enough that 1 or 2 inches really won't affect me much, but this is a reminder as to why my ends used to look jacked up back in the day when I used to be at the salon every Saturday morning, 52 weeks out of the year. I'll be DC'ing and taking better care of my hair from this point forward.

Today was a nice day so I decided to take a walk down the South End in Boston. I came across a salon called Blo Dry Bar and it caught my curiosity. I've heard about dry bars, but have never been to one. Now I would never go to a salon without a recommendation, let alone a "quick service" salon like this one because I don't know if they can do my type of hair, but I decided to walk in anyway and look around.

The receptionist was very nice and she said that yes they do kinky/curly hair. I took a chance and booked an appointment. Here are some pictures of the place (very pretty) and a picture of my curls before I got my hair did. Mind you, I just wet my hair this morning and didn't even detangle LOL

When I arrived, the receptionist offered me coffee. I waited 15 minutes and then I was called by the stylist. Tiffany (African American and I highly recommend her) was very gentle with my hair. She took her time washing it, blow dried my hair on low with a wide tooth comb, and then flatironed small sections of hair. I let her style my hair however she wanted so she decided to curl it. My hair came out gorgeous and I was out of there in about 70 minutes. I paid $40 bucks, which is pretty good considering that's how much I pay normally. She was very professional and the place was gorgeous.

I will be back in May for my anniversary. My DD said she's going to book an appointment for next week.

:gorgeous: I'm glad you had a good experience with your impromptu salon find! It's good to have someplace to get your hair done when you don't feel like doing it yourself.

That's Sooo not like me and I got lucky. Even DH was shocked when I told him LOL he knows how I am.

I reside in the Bean and I been searching for a good salon. I will keep this in mind. Where in south end is this salon?

It came out so beautifully! Thank you for sharing.

There is one I always pass in Manhattan; I always walk by really slowly as if I am seriously thinking about it, but I am still too scared of blow-dryers,.

That looks lovely! The curls are so pretty.
I am all about the random chair hopping lol my friends tell me I'm going to regret it one day.

What lovely, luscious, cascading curls in that photo with your back to the camera! How nice it is to have a positive and satisfying impromptu hair experience. You took "a chance" and had a wonderful adventure. Your hair looks so silky, soft and shiny. It's really very pretty.

Hmm, I might have to check this place out. I'm kind of chicken though. Your hair came out lovely. No surprise there! Your hair pics are always gorgeous.
