Bible Study Guide Rec?

Is anyone able to recommend a good bible guide that is available online? I am looking to study the bible and the Quran over the next few months but I don't know where to start.

I use the Life Application Study Bible (New Living Translation). It helps me to better understand the Scripture itself, the historical period during the time of the particular verse, and how to apply it to life in modern times. Unfortunately, this bible is not available online for free (as far as I know), but you can purchase it via Amazon.com or another e-store.
