Military babes support group!

Dang I feel so out of place among all of you AF and Army ladies lol. Right now I'm active duty Navy stationed in Virginia Beach, VA at NAS Oceana. As with everything else the thing that hindered my hair growth before I knew better was putting it up in a bun all of the time. Another thing is when I have to go on deployment on the ship and have to wash my hair with the water on the ship. I'm a little more educated about taking care of my hair now so I think I'm making some progress. For you all that have to wear buns or ponytails do you moisturize the ends of your hair before you do so? I've tried but my hair always seems so dry.

Where are you in Kuwait. I wS Deployed to Ali Al....... this past January.

Ali over here! This chow hall is crappy! So got any tricks, go to know info?

I am moisturizing my ends now, castor oil is awesome. I am using ors olive oil on them and then sealing with the castor. I use bottled water to wash my hair. The faucet water is to hard.

Ok I am a bad girl, I have been here all alone and didn't say anything. So I am a Air Force Brat, Army National Guard Soldier (10 years of service, disable vet) and now Marine Wife. During basic training, I grew out my hair to wear in a pony tail while in training, I had all male drill sgts but they made us got and get our hair touched up, deep conditoned if needed and I love those drills for that. My hair was fryed from being in South Carolina in the summer heat, I came home did a little chop and nuse it back to health. If I had known then what I know now, I most likely would had gotten corn rows, that is the best thing ever in my opinion for basic training, going to the field and hot weather training.

When I was over there, I actually washed my hair with the water. I was transitioning at the time and mainly did condition washes, but if it was a regular wash my hair was soaked in conditioner afterwards and I loveddddddddddd my castor oil (a blessiinnngggg). other than that my hair was in a bun all the time.

Do they still have salsa classes and stuff? I use to go to the army side for r&b night and salsa night.

As much as I hated micros, I think I will do cornrows when it's BT time. I look sexy in them ( I know I'm silly HAHA but I do. I got the cheekbones and bone structure for it) ... and I know BT is the last place where I need or have time to look sexy... but yea... plus they're not TOO bad to take out. :lachen:

lauryen doll~ Time to look sexy in BT, :lachen: good luck with that sh*t.

Haven't gone to the army side for any classes even though I should. Lovin the castor oil. We have swing class now!

You make sure you take a pic while you're in BT w/your cornrows looking sexy. Post it when you get to AIT. We'd all love to see if someone can actually accomplish that. I KNOW I looked at HAM during Basic. :lachen::lachen:

hey thegirltolove~ maybe there were less military around. Lets try to keep it going strong though, we gotta support each other. Got a good BX there?

:lachen::lachen::lachen: Gurrl, I ain't in BT! I am in Baghdad right now on my 3rd deployment.

p.s. Those cornrows didn't last long at all!!!! I don't think they looked sexy, but they did the job....I guess.

I'M MILITARY STATIONED IN KOREA. I'M NOT SURE OF MY HAIR TYPE. MY GOAL IS FOR MY HAIR TO BE HEALTHY. IF I GET GREAT LENGTHS, THEN THAT'S A PLUS. CURRENLY SPORTING A SHORT CUT. MY HAIR HAS NEVER BEEN PAST MY CHIN.

I CO-WASH DAILY AFTER PT DUE TO EXCESSIVE SWEATING, APPLY LV-IN AND MOISTURIZER TWICE DAILY. PRE-POO, SHAMPOO, AND DC WEEKLY. SEEING THAT IT'S GETTING COLDER, I WILL BE DOING THIS TWICE A MONTH.

THAT'S FUNNY. MY HAIR GREW LIKE A WEED IN SC. I WAS THERE FOR BASIC AND AIT. WENT FROM A SHORT CROP TO A PONYTAIL IN BASIC (9 WKS). CUT IT IN AIT, THEN GRADUATED WITH A PONYTAIL (8 WKS). BUT FOR THE LIFE OF ME, I CAN'T REMEMBER WHAT I USED. BUT I THINK IT WAS THE HYDRATION FORMATIONS (1 FULL CANTEEN) 3Xs A DAY.

I am active duty air force stationed at Nellis, las Vegas

My hair type is 4b relaxed
My goal: apl
Hair issues: finding great protective styles I get tired of the everyday bun and rollersets.

I guess now is as good a time to jump in as any.....

I'm active duty Air Force and I'm stationed at Hickam AFB, Hawaii. I've been lurking for about a year (but a hard core lurker for the past 6 months or so.)

This is my first post, so I haven't had a chance to set up my avatar or anything.

Just poppin' in to say "HOLLA!!!"

SouthernBelle~ Lucky!! tell me about Hickam, what do you do? I want to go there I would be beach patrolling all day, in my shorts.

MonieLuv~ So uhhhhh.....you are in korea..... can a girl get a hook up on some korean knockoffs? :look: I'm kidding....................I am serious

Active Duty Air Forcehere, stationed at Ramstein AB in Germany.

I got tired of trying to find someone to do my hair every time I PCS'd, so I do it all myself and go to a salon occasionally for a trim. I hate having to wear my hair up all the time, but it is what it is. I do the ponytail bun thing and wear my hair down on weekends. I actually think wearing my hair up helps me to retain length so I won't complain to much.

I am Active Duty Navy.
Currently stationed in Bremerton, Wa (Ship changed homeports)
My ship just arrived here a few days ago so I am not sure how the weather will effect my hair. I hope it helps it a lot being that it's not normally sunny here, and it's really cold.

When we were homeported in Italy My hair seemed to grow slower than normal.
I mainly just wear braids, but I am transitioning to wigs for a while.

I PT at least 5 days a week. Maybe that is having an effect on my growth.

Small world quty bug! I'm Air Force stationed at Spangdahlem, I'm 40 minutes up the road from Ramstein.

Hey thegirltolove!!!

Guuuurrrrllllll, you can HAVE Hawaii. :nono: I can't deny, the weather is nice - it never gets cold (or even cool, for that matter). But that's where my love affair ends with this place. The traffic is HORRENDOUS.

Unfortunately, we'll probably be here for a LONG time (at least until I retire in 5 years), because my husband is Army, and this is one of the few places we can actually live under the same roof.

Qutybug,

We just left Ramstein. Where do you work? I worked at 16th AF. Man, I miss Germany so much. :yep:

NAKISH66,

Have you hit up Roma's in Speicher yet? :lick: Girl, that was my HOLE! :lachen:
