October 2017: Hits & Misses

Hit: KindredButters shipping. I got a ship notice on Saturday and got my package today. I :heart3: her

Hit: nag champa fragrance oil. Fell in love with the scent after getting an APB product in this fragrance. Will use it to scent all DIY hair and body concoctions. (it's a soft powdery musk)

Hit: getting 5 packages of hair and beauty stuff delivered today :happydance:

Misses:
MO white peony leave in- this went on smooth if I drenched my hair in it, but then my hair felt hard and dry after 5 seconds of applying. This did not smooth my strands at all.

TMC 24k glistening twisting gel- it worked ok if I used enough, but then it produced flakes. And it also doesn't smooth my strands like i expect of a gel. I found it useless.

(Continued) HIT:
Clay mask with sodium bentonite. This always softens my hair and has my coils popping.

MISS:

Joico K-Pak Color Therapy Conditioner - It is not slippy enough for my hair plus it left a waxy film over my strands upon rinsing out. It is not a repurchase item. I think I will stick with Keracare, Kerastase, Redken, and Matrix products when I run out of my Joico products especially since I can get them easily on the ground here in the Bahamas.

Joico I have to purchase online and I am pulling back from a lot of online ordering except my ayurveda hair care products, clays, and some handmade lines like APB, SSI, MO Babassu Mint DC, JMonique's Naturals Dead Sea Mud Wash and body creams.

HIT
Olaplex Sallys Dupe - Ion Absolute Perfection step 1 and 2. I used this last weekend when I colored my hair and can I say my hair felt soft, silky and bouncy......I could not keep my hands out of my hair. I am natural but it gave the feel and look of a fresh relaxer. I am more of a straight haired natural.

HIT: Finding a conditioner you LOVE in your stash. In my case, it's ION Inspired by Nature Intensely Moisturizing Masque. This stuff is thick and deeply moisturizing. Last night I mixed it with some Neutral Protein Filler to make it a deep conditioning protein treatment. My hair felt smooth and lush.

MISS: The biggest hit is discontinued. Grrrrrrrrr!

Wow this is the slippiest Joico Conditioner I own...it's always interesting to see how one person's trash is another person's treasure :lick:

Meh: Mane Choice Heavenly Halo Herbal Hair Tonic and Soy Milk Deep Hydration Shampoo

Wasn't particularly wowed by the shampoo. Smells good, lathers nicely, and rinses clean. Actually it rinses a little too clean. My hair was squeaky clean when it rinsed out. I saw no noticeable difference in softness. I'll continue to use the bottle until it is gone but I will not repurchase.

@nymane
I scoured different sites yesterday tryna' find my Fall/Winter staple of: Eucalyptus & Mint Scalp Butter *no luck*

I still have x1 16oz Jar of Pumpkin Seed DC'er and I think x1 Jar of Coconut & Lemongrass Transitioning Creme and after that No More DB.:cry3:

If you find a dupe for the Transitioning Creme, can you let me know? That is my holy grail staple hair moisturizer.

This is awful, I feel your pain

TRIPLE MISS
I'm so heartbroken by this; I'm actually still in denial...there was no warning!!!! At first, their customer service e-mail auto reply message stated that they'd reopen on Oct. 15th, but that didn't happen. Now their email account is gone...ugh

I've been with DB for like 7 years :crybaby:
Man one of my first ride or die lines. The owner was such a sweetheart, I went to visit her shop when it was open here in Powder Springs, Ga. and I never would've imagined she would be gone.
I'm just going to keep hope alive and say she's coming back next year.
