BSL and beyond: how are you styling your hair?

I am a little past BSL and I just dont really know what to do with my hair. My daily do is a ponytail ( boring) and I am at a loss as to what to do with it. :ohwell:

Long haired ladies and even short haired ladies, what are you doing with your hair?

Bumping...

(I do updo's, buns, and braidouts. I get a wash and press once every couple of months. Maybe you can use or start using some nice hair accessories )

Here's one:

I also use hair zings (those double combs) to create updo's (I have a black one on in one of my pics in my profile album, though it's with my hair down).

Of course the good old trusty bun, but yeah, I get bored fast :spinning:

I have Hair Zings but they break and tangle so easy!!!

I had the wooden beaded one and it was my fav and it tangled so bad that I had to throw it away. Another one, the stings popped so I just gave up on it.

Girl, that picture is so big, I feel like I'm at the IMAX theatre looking at the big screen!

I'm a relaxer stretcher (currently 3.5 months) past BSL and I wash just about every day or every other day. 99% of the time I keep my hair separated in two big braids and then I bobby pin and coil them up around each other being sure to tuck the ends under to retain moisture in a figure 8 or infinity symbol design. I slap a headband on and KIM. That's about it. Other than that I have a wig and I do dry rollersets on small magnetic rollers. I only wear my hair straight for a few weeks after getting relaxers or when I go to see my hairstylist once or twice in between touchups.

i have to wear my hair pulled back for work (server) and i work about 8 shifts a week so... puffs and buns are pretty much it for me.

i have lots of pics in my Fotki. it may be simple and boring, but if it works then why fight it? ;)

I wear my hair out over the weekend and pinned up in a bantu knot out or bunnned co-wash and go during the week. It's to hot to have it out all the time now.

Xena your hair is gorgeous. So lush, long and full. I wish I was full BSL. Damn these layers. I twist, braid out or keep up in various updo's in a clip.

 Thank you!

I tried to do some pin curls last night but they turned out more like waves. :ohwell: I'll try again tomorrow.

ponytails; two low side braids- nativ-amer.style; buns; and for special occasions, dry roller sets. pretty boring i know.

i've been bunning. roller sets, and then wearing southern tease buns or high messy buns. or i'll air dry. i'll put my wet hair into 2 pony tails, twist each pony tail and dry t overnight that way. still a little damp in the AM... but my roots are smooth and silky... and my hair is super moisturized. i'll usually wear my air dried hair in a (surprise) a high bun. lol.

I wear a ponytail daily for work because my hair gets in the way and it's hot. On my off days when I go somewhere I'll do twist n' curl's, twist-outs, use hairzings to create a half up half down style with a quiff at the top. I'm gonna start trying to do my own flat twist styles. I wear my hair down big and wild pulled back with a scarf in the front a lot. There's a lot you can do if you're creative enough. I'm not very creative but I've found that youtube vids help me a lot for style inspiration.

Most of the vids are curly hair vids but I'm sure a lot of the styles will work for any texture.

Since I am at BSL and beyond I find that I can do more with my buns than just put a scrunchy around it.
I like DLewis's blog for inspiration on buns. That's my thing right now, big pretty buns, especially high ones.
Since I joined this forum and have been on this hair journey I don't want to wear my hair down as much. I think I enjoy taking my hair down once in a blue moon and being amazed the length that I have retained.

I wear my hair in: twists, ponytails, twist outs, straight, braid outs, pigtail braids, and buns mostly. The sky is the limit. Have fun and experiment. :)
