2019 Wsl Challenge!

Adding my starting pic. I blew my hair out with the revlon dryer brush and lightly straightened. My hair is reverting from NYE partying but I'm keeping it straight for the rest of the week
IMG_2408.jpg

Wash - weekly on Sundays, sometimes every other week if I'm too busy or just don't want to deal with my hair.
Pretreat - Olaplex No 2.
Shampoo - clay with acv, No 4 shampoo or TGIN.
Deep condition - I'm trying out a few deep conditioners so far my favs are Oyin honey hemp, Mane Choice Ancient Egyptian, TGIN honey miracle hair masque, and soultanicals marula muru moisture guru.
Leav-ins - I have bunch in my stash i have to use up.
Moisturizer/sealer - hair butters in my stash, diy shea butter mix.

Stylist did an extreme cut to my perimeter to match the length from small patch in the middle I cut intentionally. Which was 2- 3 inches, half of my 2018... I was a bit teed but healthier ends prevailed:cool:
Regimen
I’ll continue to mini twist for sure
Washing schedule is up in the air currently
I have to chew on my 2019 hair schedule and be back with current pics. This is from July 2018 blow out/ flat iron

So I blow dried on cool 1/2/19. I had to meet family that were traveling and didn’t want to go out with damp hair. My hair was feeling bomb tho!
I still haven’t twisted but will do so over the weekend, does WL seem far off? Im jaded to think I can make it, this will be a huge, huge milestone since I stopped texlaxing back in 2013.0DF03E9E-A6D5-4815-9051-05D8268C91FD.jpeg

You can definitely make it.

Washed my hair today. I used Olaplex No.4 shampoo. I really like the shampoo it was very moisturizing and didn't strip my hair. It felt like it got my hair clean but I never use sulfate or clarifying shampoos. Thats asking for a tangled mess.
Deep conditioned with soultanicals afrotastic curl elastic. This was a good deep conditioner but it didn't wow me. Before I washed it out I used my hand held steamer to detangle my hair in sections and twists them up.
I rinsed the deep conditioner out with the twist still in. That helps a lot with keep my hair from tangling up again.
Dried my hair with the revair dryer and wrapped it up for the night.
I pan to wear my hair in a bun all week for work. I'll wear it out on the weekends when I'm going out with fiancé-boo.

Hi everyone! Returning member here! I hope it’s not to late for me to join the challenge.
I’ve been gone for a while, busy getting things back in order in my life mentally and emotionally.

I’ve cut my hair multiple times during the past few years I’ve been MIA, neglected my strands, wouldn’t leave my hair alone, and stopped using my faithful products.
I’m back in it though. Things have been going very well in my life, and this year I’m pampering me, me, me. I had reached wsl before and now I’m back on my journey again.

Length————Above bsl.

Products———Giovanni 50:50 shampoo, Giovanni Reconstructer, and Aphogee protein treatment, Shea butter Manuka honey hair mask, Giovanni 50:50 conditioner, Castor oil, Homemade Shea butter (occasionally) and original homemade kimmaytube leave in.

Routine———-Wash weekly. Deep treatment with heat cap ( rotate between protein and moisture). Hot oil scalp massage every 2 weeks. Simple regimen. I don’t do much.

Styles————My styles are simple as well. Mostly loose top buns, pigtails bobby-pinned up, occasionally I do twists (medium or mini).

This is my starting pic. Above bsl. Fresh trim and later I did a search and destroy with no difference. Ignore the fat and rolls I’m working on that too.

Edit to add. I am still Natural.

So from my first post above in January I believe I retained all gains

I had to dig for this challenge, only to find there have been no new posts since last time I checked. :( My length is basically the same as when I posted 4 months ago. :/ Which figures, because I have not been putting time into my hair and doing things as quickly as possible, which always results in breakage. Since last month, that is. At least for the last month, I've been trying to be gentler, tying to figure out a way where I only comb only every other wash, and finger detangle every other wash. My intention now is to wash weekly, alternating using a comb and finger detangling, and blow drying once a month. I measured my hair, most parts are about 15" root to tip. So I intend to try this general regimen until the end of the year. If I can retain at least 1.5" in the 4+ months from when I started to the end of the year, I'll consider it a success.

Updates? @MizzBFly @angelhairtype4 @Prettyeyes @ckisland @Karmi @Soaring Eagle @Alta Angel @blazingbeauty

Okay- I have taken pics for comparison purposes so I have to edit/resize to post on the board. It’s still September so I have a few months. Bring em out, bring em out!
I did get a trim in July after a blow out since I declined my trim in March for my sisters wedding. I’ll be back:afro:

I'm not in this challenge but I have been wearing wigs quite a bit this year. I am loving the Outre Dominican Blowout half wig (folks think it's my hair!). I also like Sensationnel Game Changer....it looks super natural but it is huge!
Is the sensational a natural texture? I would love to find one. I had a half wig once upon a time but now I can’t find it. :cry3:It was a wavy texture and folks were duped :look:

Alrighty. Soooo I think I’m mbl now. I’ll double check again after I take these passion twists out.

I’ve been doing the bare minimum, co-washing and bunning. My main focus has just been keeping my hair moisturized. Staying away from the blow dryer. I did end up cutting my bangs again :blah: which I said I wasn’t going to do, but I tried to do do a deva cut on my own hair and it ended up...weird . Anyway, I am currently in passion twist which I did myself. I braided my real hair, then pulled the hair through the braid and just twisted. I followed a YouTube tutorial. Was so easy! 127B1E95-0AB4-4F45-B11F-12789D1AFD8E.jpeg

I started taking liquid biotin yesterday and back taking my collagen powder. I did try msm for a few days, but I will have to revisit that when my eating schedule is more on track.

Update....

Ok I started the biotin on Saturday. I already have two pimples. One since Sunday, and I found another earlier today. I don’t have acne never suffered acne through puberty either. I may get a zit during my cycle, but that’s it.

I heard about biotins acne side affects. I drink tons of water already. I’m not sure I’m willing to go through the acne faze though. I didn’t expect it to happen so fast. I didn’t take it today. I’m gonna stick to my collagen supplement, and again work on fitting my msm into my schedule.

So I got the hang of msm now. I’m taking 1tsp in the morning and 1tsp in the evening on empty stomach. That’s a total of 8 grams a day. I dissolve in about 1 ounce of water. Then add orange juice and chug it down.
I just did a trim, but I’ll be taking a length check pic. Will keep track and post update next month.

Rules:

1. Update regularly on how things are going preferably at least every two weeks (trims, following your reggie, set backs, successs etc.)

2. Share your regimen: Which products are working for you, any methods you use. Also, which protective styles are you using to reach your goal. If you are using vitamin, supplements or a special diets share this too.

I wash my hair every 2-3 weeks, and employ the baggy method on a daily basis. I also take hair vitamins.

3. Post starting length. Pictures, measurements etc. Pics are preferred at the start of the challenge January 1, 2019. See below
View attachment 440955

4. Progress check in at the halfway point June 2019. Pics and measurements.

So it has been a while since I last posted. My regimen remains the same and I have been relatively consistent with the Mane Choice’s Manetabolism. Here is where I’m at as of today.
