A New Calling? Minister of Music Steps Down To Do Reality TV

By Lillian Armstead | allchristiannews.com
Minstrel Byron Cage made this request to God, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my territory,” (1 Chronicles 4:10), and that is exactly what happened. Byron is slated to sign with a new recording label this year. He also mentioned the possibility of appearing in two reality television shows sometime this year. He will provide more details during his appearance at the Stellar Gospel Music award show, which airs in a couple of weeks.
Byron also revealed that he will be stepping down from his ministerial duties because his schedule for the New Year will not allow him to continue in his role as a Minister of music. And although he admits to have a love for the ministry, Byron explained that it is time to enlarge his territory, and take on new opportunities.[/pullquote]
More preachers are taking on roles as reality television stars with the rationale that they can reach more people utilizing the reality show platform. The Preachers of Los Angeles reality show seems to be a big hit; however, the cast received criticism from the Christian community.

Byron Cage is an American gospel recording artist who seems to have always had a heart for the ministry. Cage began his musical career at a young age and continued on in his adult years. He attended the prestigious Morehouse College in the city of Atlanta. During his time at the school, Byron was a member of the Morehouse Glee Club. He was also a member at the world renowned New Birth Missionary Baptist church, presided over by Bishop Eddie L. Long, the senior pastor at the church.

Why do you think that ministers are leaving the church for reality television? Is it because they are not making as much money as they are accustomed to? I understand that everyone has to eat, but do you think it is appropriate for a minister of the gospel to appear in a reality show? Do you think they are hypocrites for doing this, or are they just trying to put some food on the table?

I don't even want to know what the premise of the show is.. you've seen one, you've seen them all I guess.

What in the World is right.... ?

I'm praying for the 'One' who gets it right and truly represents the Lord and without compromise.
