Londoners!!!

Do any of you know any hair salons that specialise in natural hair in NW?

I've been searching for a while and they all seem to be in South or the East End.

Thanks in advance :)

I'm in NW and I haven't found any that specialises in natural hair. However I have seen a salon in Wembley that can do natural hair well called Quality hair or something like that.

What kind if servicesare you after and where in NW are you looking to do your hair?

My daughter got her hair cut at 3thirty salon in shoreditch. Short walk from the tube. Not sure if it's NW though.

Hi NefertariBlu,

I only really want a hair treatment and basic cornrow style for now, nothing fancy, but the few salons I've been to have been terrible. I'm quite tenderheaded and I find the stylists are quite rough with my hair, impatient and seem to have no idea how to handle natural hair.
Wembley isn't too far from me so I might check them out; thank you!!!
Failing that, I've heard Adornment365 are good (although they are on the other side of London).
Unfortunately I learned how to cornrow, lol and I can't seem to find anytime to myself these days to do my own hair.

Yep, that has been my own experience, that's why I don't even bother anymore. I'm getting my hair in comb coils for the intention of locing on Friday. It's costing me £45 for the whole service of washing and condition and installing the coils so I will let you know how it goes. I've heard really good things from people who've been there.

It's called Mane Culture in Neasden.

Hope it goes well tomorrow and yes, please do let me know about your experience. Neasden is close to me so they'd be convenient.
Thank you :)!

I've just remembered I've seen that salon while passing on the North Circular Rd! Totally forgot about them!

I'd also love to know how it goes with your appointment. I'm frequently in NW and it would be nice to find a good salon/ stylist that really knows how to care for natural hair.

@NefertariBlu How did your appointment go?

@AbsyBlvd

I personally didn't really like the experience. The natural hair part is kinda squashed round the back of the shop and needed a good lick of paint.

When I arrived I announced who I was seeing and she barely said hello to me. The other loctician just pointed at her.

I got in the chair (after my wash and condition) and there really wasn't any conversation. She asked me what size I wanted my locs, then began to use the smallest end of a fine tooth comb to do my coils.

I asked her if she could use the bigger end because my hair was getting tangled and was just flying all over the shop. She said she needed to use that part and continued. I asked her to use the bigger part but my request was ignored.

Her phone kept ringing...so you know how that goes. At one point she left a guy who she shampooed to wait with wet hair so she could get food:(. She was gone for a good 15 minutes too! I just couldn't believe it.
I was there for 2 hours and she only spike to me because I was speaking to her. I'm a brand new customer, don't you want to know how I found you?

All in all my starter locs came out fine. I just didn't like the experience.
I didn't feel listened too, she was too rough and I did not like the atmosphere. I personally felt there was no customer service so I won't be going back. It's a shame because I heard so many good reviews about this place.

It just reminded me of all the other salons I have avoided in the past because of a lack in customer service.

I've already found somewhere closer to get them retwist ed.

@NefertariBlu Thanks for your review. Smh I'm sorry you experienced such a negative service but at least your coils turned out ok and you've found an alternative salon to maintain.

I think that's the main thing that puts me off going to a salon as a natural; the thought that whoever will just rip through my hair with no concern, for the sake of speed.

I was so disappointed! Can't believe people are ok with this level of "service". I swear if I hadn't struk up conversation I would've sat there in silence for the duration of my appointment. The only thing she did say was how to look after them and I needed to come back in 3.weeks. she advised me to use an oil sheen to moisturise my hair... errrrrrrrrrrrm no! I was just like... whatever.

I've only been to one salon that listened to what my needs were, but they don't really do natural hair. I only went there when I wanted my hair washed and blowdried.

So dissapointing.

So since then I have gone to two other locticians.

The first lady was late to the appointment. When I got there the shop wasn't opened and by the time it did open it was freezing in there.

They hadn't cleaned up from the night before so I had to wait until they sorted it out.

I wasn't happy about that at all.

I wasn't happy with my results as it started unraveling the next day. I have 4c hair so it shouldn't have unravelled so quickly. She was biased to interlocking so that wasn't going to work for me either.

I've now found someone who I vibe with. I've known her for a while and have been to her twice with good results. I have a 3rd retwist coming up and it will be with her. She's based on S. London.

I've not revised any of the previous locticians.
