I wanna add some color to my hair

I have jet black hair and want to add some reddish tones to my hair. I want to try the Clairol Beautiful Collection in Rosewood Brown. This is a semipermanent color with no ammonia or peroxide, therefore no risk. I want to know if this color will show up on my hair. Here's a link to all the colors in this collection. Let me know what you guys think. Thank you!

That's great that it doesn't have any ammonia or peroxide--I'd stay away from the bleaches. I personally haven't used Clairol but it sounds good.

I personally have opted for henna treatments to add a little 'somethin' to my hair--still experimenting though. I've read that Henna gives reddish tones to the hair. I know that some natural readheads use Henna to bring their color out more.

Here are some miscellaneous links I saved about coloring:

Thanks for the links Sweetyb. I don't think I can use henna on my hair since my hair is relaxed though. Those links are very helpful.

Last week I used rosewood brown and was unimpressed! I have dark brown hair and the color did not really make a dramatic difference. I used a cellophane in cinnamon and had better results.

To be honest, I don't think it will make a big difference on jet black hair, maybe in the sun, but I doubt it will show up a ton then. It'll basically coat your hair.

Karonica is NOT telling you to do this, but I had to share. One of my friend's friend had success using Fruit Works juice on her black hair.

I had black hair too and tried Clairol Beautiful Collection Reddish Brown and it didnt show up AT ALL on my hair.

If there is a 800 number on the back of the bottle/box, call it and ask the representative if that particular color will show up on your jet black hair.

If you're willing to use a DEMI-permanent haircolor (it contains low peroxide, but NO ammonia)... try Loreal Color Spa in Redwood. I used it on my daughter's dark brown hair and it came out VERY nice!!

It gave a reddish tint which could be detected while indoors, moreso when outdoors in the sun.

It's sort of a deep auburn/wine color. I think it's supposed to last up to 28 shampoos.

Karonica, is Fruit Works actually a real juice? And how did she go about doing this?

Lindy, are demi-permanents damaging to hair at all? My hair is in very good condition, but I don't want to risk its health.

I would say that they are not damaging, but they do contain a low level of peroxide, so I guess there is a risk of dryness. But if you condition your hair very well on a regular basis, I don't think you would have any problem at all.

Rica, I'll have to ask my friend for some more details, but from I know, she just poured the juice on her head with the intention of coloring it, which it did. And it lasted more than a few shampoos, but it's gradually washing out now. Wow!
