I bc'd on October 31st after transitioning for five months.
November 30/21st birthday: I wore my hair out for the first time since my bc.
January 13th: Freshly washed hair with left in conditioner
Head wraps are my go to style for now. Winter in New York is too harsh for me to really think of wearing my hair out and I'm paranoid of my hair rubbing against things, so I keep it wrapped at home too.
My hair is healthier than it was when relaxed. When I told my grandmother-a beautician-that I was no longer going to get relaxers, she said my hair would break and wouldn't thrive. Yeah...okay. So far, I've only experienced the opposite. With the relaxer, my edges were breaking and I dealt with random scabs occurring on my scalp. I no longer have those issues and I've become more aware of the importance of moisturizing hair. Clearly, only good things have come of this.
