HELP! What should I do with my hair? Transitioning Tips please

So I am about 6 months post as you can see in my siggy below

I have been using Senegalese Twist to transition so far, but now I'm bored! I'm tired of these braids man!

Does anyone know some low-maintenance styles that will keep me from messing with my real hair? I do not want any straight styles at all because I am trying to love my hair texture as is (PLEASE no natural vs. relaxed posts) and really do not want to emulate anything other than that

I was thinking maybe I could get a weave? Does anyone know of any great weaveologists in NYC?

know that with the 2 textures that when the weave is removed your hair will be extremely fragile because now on top of the 2 textures would also have shed hair and slight matting....you could likely handle it cause you have been doing individual braids with extension hair, though. what about a curly textured wig?

southerncitygirl My fear is that I will not know how to properly apply the wig or how to maintain it. How do you make sure your hairline looks natural? I don't want it to loose it curl pattern and look "wiggy", you know? I want it to look real
Also, I am afraid of it falling off my head (so embarrassing!).

Also, where would I find such a wig that mimics textured hair? I want one that can copy a twistout style on 4a-4b hair.

i'm not a fan of lacefronts and at one point just used full cap synthetic wigs. so my hair line was out and it looked fine. I've never done curly textured wigs though I would love to have a few.

OK ladies, this is the exact look I was going for!! Curly afro-like texture, but long enough to suit my long neck and face. Thanks so much!! I will do more research on the board, but thank you so much for the suggestion!

I hadn't even considered a wig because I didn't think they would look right.

My only worry now is maintenance, and how this wig will upkeep. I also need to figure out how to cut/layer it to fit my face

Keep your hair moisturised and as for styles, perhaps a textured faux bun? There are YouTube vids

Wigs. Look up the fingercomber unit. I think theres a thread for wigs for transitioners somewhere. I'm posting from my phone so I can't search for it right now
ETA phony ponies were my go to. I would just gel my hair, throw it into a bun, then use the phony pony or phony puff. It was a lifesaver

a textured weave might be an option.
did you look into half wigs or full wigs yet?
What about straw/flexi rod sets?
Would you mind trying out cornrows for a change?
Also you can try bunning with stretched hair.

All types of roller serts and twist/braid outs can be done on transitioning hair.

Try perm rods, they are a good alternative for transitioning hair
