What Hair Type Are You? PICS!

Hi Ladies, I thought this would be a neat and exciting thread to start and I'm hoping a few of you who have been wondering your hair type will chime in.

I'll go first.

I have many different hair textures throughout my hair but the most prominent is depicted in the below pictures. Now I know there are a lot of individuals who don't believe in hair typing but to me I think it's important to know your hair type so you can accurately determine whether or not certain products will work on your hair (amongst other things like porosity etc). So what hair type am I? For the longest time I've considered my hair mostly 4A….but what do you think?

I should also note that the pics above are of naked hair with no product but water.

Looks like 4a.
I am 4b, but my hair texture loosened when I dyed it...

is your hair relaxed? you need to be completely natural before you can really see what your coil pattern is

if youre natural and thats your natural texture then you have no curl pattern. youre a type 1.

Hmmm… type 1 is straight hair correct? I definitely do not have straight hair.

You look like a 4 but it is hard to determine 4a or 4b with the damage and with your hair not loose. But you are probably a 4a. When you are a 4b you usually know it :yep:

Thanks Faith. I think the second picture makes my hair look very damaged LOL. When I have a moment, I'll retake some photos with my hair completely down. I may have to rewash my hair though and today is NOT a wash day.

You can tell by your shed hair. If it is larger than the spring in a ball point pen it is probably a 4a. Smaller than that we start going to B, C, etc.

It looks 4a/4b to me. The 3c you are seeing may be the heat damage area.

My hair is 4c (see signature-- I know I hate when people do this). Your hair appears to be 4a/b.
