items that make you look polished
I learned in collage that if you throw on a nice fitted blazer, carry a nice bag and wear decent shoes you can get away with wearing just about anything and you still look polished and put together.
Last year someone gave me and oversized Michael kors gold watch... I call it the magical accessory. It chic-fies (lol) even the most casual outfit.
What items make you feel polished?

Groomed hair, great skin & makeup form the foundation. What also takes it to the next level is a well cut blazer, good jewellery, handbag (purse) and shoes.

Re: items that make you look polished
anything that fits properly looks good if your face is 'put together'. not necessarily a full face of make-up, but just groomed eyebrows, eyeliner and a lick of gloss can work wonders.

Why eyeliner? I really don't get why people wear it in the first place?

+1
Also add simple, well-made pumps.
A nice watch is always a plus as well.

Accessories, especially pearls, quality shoes and handbangs. Hair can make or break an outfit too.

This is not an item per se , but getting clothing tailored makes a big difference . It gives a more polished neat appearance .

Re: items that make you look polished
Getting my clothes tailored makes me feel so sexy. Every time I get some extra cash, I create a pile for the tailor. When I get my clothes back and start wearing them, I feel like a million bucks.
Groomed nails, sunglasses, groomed eyebrows, lipgloss, quality shoes and a quality bag make me feel polished.
I will also add that posture is important. I've seen many breathtaking women but their posture was bad and detracted from their entire look.
A smile does wonders and is often the best accessory.

Re: items that make you look polished
Hmmm - for those of you who subscribe to tailoring for a polished look ... how much would you pay and what kind of tailoring do you insist upon. I agree somewhat with the concept but its seems so expensive - I take some items if I have to. Like I prefer wearing my skirts and dresses below my knee. Most of what is out now hits above the knee so I have a tailor let out the hem. ??? should I start another thread or is it acceptable to ask these questions here?

It really varies. I had to redo a problematic zipper in a dress and it cost me $22! But then I had a dress taken in to make the waist smaller and it cost me $15 based on the material. Also, please get referrals on a TERRIFIC tailor. Not all tailors are created equal. I've learned through trial and MUCH error who is good and who is only a little bit better than my amateur self!
I think the questions are appropriate in this thread as it is about looking polished.
I often go to thrift shops and will redo the piece I buy based on what I see in my mind. I've turned flowing skirts into pencil skirts. I've elongated skirts. Shortened pants into capri's. It all depends on what you think looks best. Also, the tailor can give you tips on what can be done with whatever you bring in. Sometimes, a piece cannot be tailored without messing up the integrity of the material/pattern. That is not to say you cannot get it tailored but sometimes panels must be added that can mess the look of a dress/pants.
EXPERIMENT! Good luck!

Re: items that make you look polished
A simple little black dress (that fits well and flatters your body type).
Hair and make up that suit your personal style.

I forgot to add I love WRAP DRESSES. They flatter ALL figures and there are so many varieties in patterns, length, sleeve, no-sleeve, et cetera. Mind you I don't even have one. I used to have like 5. Time to shop!

You are so right - I have a dress now that is made of panels (love it) but one tailor told me they would have to cut the dress off to lengthen the hem wtheck? I suppose when I get a great deal on an item I can't see spending more than what I paid to get it altered. I will look for a good tailor/seamstress. The one I had got kinda lazy and whenever she returned my items they didn't fit properly or accomplish what I had intended but her prices were just right. I'll ask my Fbook family. Thanks
p.s. @ Lucie your hair is gorgeous - are you natural?

I like wrap dresses in theory but I always feel like they expose too much cleavage for my liking. And I don't like putting a cami underneath.

Re: items that make you look polished
I'm a bit voluptuous and older so some looks I have to be mindful of. For those with situations similar to mine I would go with clothing items that are not tight, binding, but skim the body made from material that fall and drape with ease.
I would add that a nice piece or pieces of jewelry (diamond studs or/and good quality hoops) are a must for most wardrobes. Quality cared-for shoes are a must.
Oh! and properly fitted bras and SPANX or other body smoothing undergarments.
