Sealing conditioner with oil?
Today I did a quick wash, liberally applied my Tresemme 24 Hour Body Conditioner into my hair, then placed EVOO on top of the conditioner to seal in the moisture for around 20+ minutes. My hair came out so soft and manageable, I literally can't stop touching and running my fingers through my hair right now. (Bad, Aireen! ) I'm hoping this isn't a fluke and that when I try this again on Sunday, I'll get the same or better results. Does anyone else apply oil ON TOP of their conditioner to seal the moisture in then DC? Has it given you better results than just DCing with conditioner alone? What oils do you use for super moisturizing results? Thanks in advance, I recently cut my hair into layers and I'm trying new tips to grow it back softer and healthier than before.

Re: Sealing conditioner with oil?
This is how I DC every single time. i only apply a small amount of grapeseed, almond or coconut oil. You are guaranteed super soft hair every time

I don't know much about almond oil but I've heard grapeseed really keeps hair moisturized and I know it's a favourite around here. Coconut oil penetrates and prevents protein loss. Do you apply equal measurements of all three? Do you apply more of one oil than the other? Or do you just eyeball how much you put?

Definitely give it a try! I used to mix oil into my DCs and I didn't get significantly better results but with this method, I did. PLUS my hair is airdried so I'm very impressed.

Re: Sealing conditioner with oil?
I do this but with castor oil. When I do, I use a light hand. My hair always comes out soft and easy to manage. I tried with coconut oil and it works, but not as well for me.

Yeah I started this like three weeks to a month ago. I put the conditioner in put my essential oil on their. It's a lot of different oils that came mixed already from whole foods . I can't say I feel a difference tho but I will continue to do it

I currently mix, didn't think the results could be any better than they are but will try adding oil on top in my DC tomorrow!

I use castor oil too after reading a thread on it - just like @ Lilmama1011 I started about 3-4 weeks ago. My hair is RIDICULOUSLY soft since adding castor oil to my DC routine... just ridiculous! Have also tried coconut oil which wasn't so great, sticking to castor oil.

Washing it out but only after leaving it in overnight or a minimum of 6 hours.

Honestly my results with mixing oils into DCs didn't seem to make a difference on my hair at all, it was pretty much a waste and I've done it more than once with different methods and time limits. I was so shocked when I tired this out though, my hair was a breeze to manage while dry. I'm going to try it with coconut oil since I have two bottles of the stuff to use up.

Washing the conditioner out. I never rinse my hair squeaky clean after conditioning but enough so that there isn't white residue on my hair.
EDIT: @ My Friend, I don't leave mine in for a long period of time though. I put a generous amount of both the conditioner and oil, making sure it gets between the inner layers of the hair and in areas we tend to overlook like above the ear, then I cover with a plastic cap. After all that, I just do whatever I have to do like exfoliate, shave, be lazy under hot water and rinse out when I'm ready to come out, sometimes that'll be 20+ mins while other times it'll be 15 mins max.

Re: Sealing conditioner with oil?
I do this often with Vatika oil. Since I generally don't buy deep conditioners (can't find any on the ground that does not have 'cones), the Vatika or plain coconut works well for that purpose.

Re: Sealing conditioner with oil?
Yes. I think the oil rinsing thread got me started*probably again, sure i've tried it before*
and I mainly use amla or vatika oil nowdays. And usually after applying cowash conditioners. I mix like Claudia and some others when it comes to my dc. Love it.

I have the same routine for WnG's. I co-cleanse, then run some oil over my hair, then apply some Tresseme Naturals Nourishing Moisture to each section. I use a mix of coconut, castor, and wheat germ oils. Hair stays moist for days!

Trying this out now. I have some silk dreams in with an oil on top and plastic cap. This is going to be a short dc...maybe an hour or so, but I will report back

Re: Sealing conditioner with oil?
I did it once because i had some left over oil from my prepoo. Since i had mixed the oils in a plastic up, and i had no empty bottle to store it, i decided to pour it over my DC that was in my hair. The DCer was already on my hair for about an hour, so i put the plastic cap back on and stayed another hour. Hair came out super super soft, and stayed soft for days, which is big for my porous, relaxed ends. I have always meant to try it again to prove this method, but i keep forgetting and rinsing the conditioner out before doing it. I will try again with a different DC next friday, and will report the results a few days later.

I apply coconut oil on top of my DC every time and I always get the same result, soft moisturized conditioned hair. The coconut oil also adds slip to the conditioner to assist with finger detangling.
