I don't know about classy, but they are on trend, so that's why I suppose they're more accepted b/c most women are wearing them.

@flowinlocks, so you could see FLOTUS wearing the second shoe I posted? The platform is the more obvious shoe to get that treatment, but there are shoes that are less obvious that I would still place in that category.

Of course not. Number 1 she's almost as tall as POTUS so I expect her to wear kitten heels to make up for this. Number 2 the patent leather and 5 inch heel wouldn't be acceptable to the critical eyes places on a first lady for everyday wear. She has manage to pull off looking elegant and classy without being sucked into looking matronly (which is expected). BUT make no mistake they do stand out. That's not to say that a slightly lower heel maybe 3 or 4 inches in a regular leather like the top one wouldn't work, but she wants to be shorter than her hubby... The same goes for work in an corporate environment. I've seen plenty of women pull off a heel with slack covering them or a suit (skirt or pants) that didn't look slutty. Also I'm not saying every high heeled shoe has to be a stiletto to look good. I've seen women (not saying you) throw shade at women who wear heels because THEY can't walk in them.

ETA: An example... I can see FLOTUS in something like this

The classic black pump. Not a kitten heel and far from stripper

this one as well

I used to wear kitten heels(1-1.5 inches) because I was 6ft tall since I was about 14 and never felt comfortable with my height. I still don't wear extra high heels, but the lowest I will go is 2-2.5 inches and the highest is 3 inches...and guess what??? I look d*mn good in them!

I'm 5'9 1/2 and went out to eat with some associates. One of the girls was 5'11 and rocking three inch heels. She wore that shoe! She stood straight up, got flattering attention and had great posture...she looked so nice that it motivated me to start wearing them again!

I'm 6 ft tall as well as 2-2.5" heels are as high as I'll go. Anything higher feels ridiculous. Luckily, in my work environment lower heels are the norm, so I don't feel any type of pressure to buy shoes that I don't like.
