Default Best way to dress for my body type/shape

Im skinny with big boobs and a small head. Ive noticed that big tops and tunics do not look good on me because they're hanging off my boobs shapelessly. I have no hips so I try to wear light colors on the bottom and dark up top.

The wide leg jeans thread has me thinking that they might work for me. Please help what colors should i do up top and on the bottom. And what type of tops? fitted tops and loose bottoms? Help and pics would be awesome!

@shockolate,

The dress in your pic is a dress I don't think will work for your body type because the ruffles add more volumn on top than you need. You want to create balance.

You can do the wide leg jeans considering they will help balance your top. Maybe look for ones with flap back pockets to create the illusion of a butt. You may be able to get away with some light wash. You can go with medium rise and wide belt to help give you some curves around the hips.

For skirts, try one that are about knee length (you have great legs) and you may want skirts that create the illusion of volumn on the bottom, maybe A line and with drapey material.

For tops, maybe try V-neck or U-neck tops, to show your cleavage. It will also create a lengthening vertical line from your face and neck to your torso. Pair tops like these with pencil skirts or flared skirts to give you a sexy curvy illusion .

Torso skirts-skirts with soft pleating , gathering or tiers to accentuate your hips and waist. U-neck tops in solid color.

Same here, but with a v-neck wrap top. You can do the top in a darker color.

Wide leg trousers-create balance with top ( light color)
Again, tailored darker top with v -neck

Torso dress, shift dress, shirt dress, A-line dress, wrap dress

@shockolate

That is your best bet!

Don't worry, for YEAARRSS I have been doing by body an injustice by not dressing for my body type. I wasted so much money on clothes and I wondered by the things I wore did not look as good on me as it did on the people I copied. And I am still learning

I agree with wearing V neck tops, no ruffles up top. Any extra material in areas you want to play down will just magnify it. The dress you're wearing would be great for someone with a small bust. I was born w/o hips and sort of had to transform my body with exercises so wide leg bottoms that look like bell bottoms didn't work for me coz they emphasized my absence of hips. What worked was pleated pants that were baggy, even if they were not tapered at the bottom. As long as they created the outward shape like a gathered skirt would and then I wore with a fitted top, then they made me look curvy.

A dress like this would also look good on you, methinks:

If you like ruffles wear them on the bottom.

I actually like that dress on you, maybe not the ruffles per say, but it doesn't scream "off" to me.

I think Blake Lively (esp. the bold sweeping, but straight lines she often wears) would be a good style icon for you.

I do like her style i will go back into that thread. This is an old pic but I have this old navy high waisted wide leg pants and I have a few more. I'll try and pair them with fitted v-neck or scoop neck tops.

You're shaped like a Barbie! And she has numerous fashion choices...lol
you have a great shape plus you're tall and that's icing on the cake. I would make sure to wear things that balance out your figure. You can wear dresses, skirts and pants that have more volume in the hip area (pockets, patterns, textures) and cinch you small waist.
I'd stay away from volume on the top because your busty but make sure you have a good support bra that lifts and your good to go.
I think @RegaLady gave you some excellent fashion choices

Where do you get your bras? You can look more proportioned if you wear a stellar, well-fitting bra. I'm also slim and chesty. Wearing the right bra makes a biiig difference for me, especially with tube dresses or anything that doesn't have a wide-strap top. The size of my back is a 30 (maybe even a 28), and my boobs are, well, large but most people wouldn't know just HOW large. I highly recommend a visit to Intimacy for a free, life-changing fitting.

I agree with @Nonie. Also look for dresses with that flare or A-line
I dunno man. I deleted a pic of the side view that i took it was so weird the top was huge and back was just flat. i was so upset because i didnt try it on before buying. The neckline was just gawdawful. lol

I get my bras from nordstrom diff brands(le mysterre, freya and chantelle). Im a 28F/G so i get them altered to a smaller band size. Yeah ppl dont believe me when i tell them my bra size. My friend actually went to get fitted with me cos she didnt believe it.

I want to thank @RegaLady, Nonie and everyone your opinions/ideas/pictures are helping.

Ive been on MANY websites all evening looking for v-necks, plunge necklines and fitted tops. I'm shopping with new eyes it's very enlightning. Im going to shop for tops only this month then bottoms next month.
