Re: 70's Afros & their names - from Ebony
Hehe I like the "new natural," "blow up," and the "perfecto" the best on those guys. What was up with the magazines back then? I can see every little stubble bit and the ingrowns too on that last guy.

Re: 70's Afros & their names - from Ebony
Thanks so much! These pics are so cute. I wonder where all of these men, minus Richard Roundtree, are today? I have a big collection of Jet magazines and I love looking at the various styles/fashions that were big in the 50s, 60s and 70s.

HoneyDew, then break it down for me. How does the Professional differ from the Duke? And how does the Prince differ from the Executive?
I enjoyed the pics. Thanks for sharing.

Re: 70's Afros & their names - from Ebony
They are not all the same!
The "Sportsman' for instance required ten heavy strokes of the blackpowerfist pick applied vertically., while the "Flattop" required nine with a few pats to the top after.
I really like the "Suave", he has a nice sexy lean of the fro going on.
I think my uncle may have been one of the models.

Those two do look very similar, but I think the Duke is a little higher.
Pointy kinda.
