don't know but lipo may not work either.

That's the hardest place for me to lose weight too. The fat just seems to CLING there. Overall fat loss is the key, I believe. It will eventually come off but for me, that's probably going to be the last part to thin out.
It might also help to do upper body weight work to build up the upper body and balance things out a little. Good luck.

Actually ladies I know of a couple excersises that can target that area. One is standing behind a chair with the seat facing away from you. Using the back of the chair for support lift your right leg at the middle angle between directly behind you(which is impossible) and to your side. Kind of a 45 degree angle you will feel it in the area you are trying to target when it is the right 'angle'. Do this 10-20 times twice on each leg. You can increase as you get more used to it. The second excersise is similar. Kneeling on one knee and Using one hand on the floor to support yourself, lift your leg to the side of you(slightly leaning in the direction of the hand thats supporting you on the floor). This one hurts trust me my volleyball team hates it but its effective for the whole outer leg/under bottom area.

you would probably get the best results from surgery. otherwise i don't know. i know a female who works out like crazy and she is in shape, but she can't get rid of those saddlebags. they are just there. she got wide hips on top of that so she really don't like it. i asked her before if she would consider surgery and i think if she had the money she would do it immediately. i think it has a lot to do with your genes, for example if your mother had it.

GiGi,
I'm more of a visual learner http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif So, on the 2nd exercise you described, would it be kind of like what a male doggie does when he pees? (but with the leg bent, or should the working leg be straight?)

straight to start out, bent hurts a lot more if you do it right. I guess I agree with Nay that surgery is the ultimate way to get rid of them but nothing wrong with reaching your best looking natural potential first.

I think saddlebags are cute. They make you look like a woman. If you didn't have them then you'd look like a boy.

lipo may work, but you'd still have to work out to tighten the stretched skin that's left hanging around you. plus, it's like the most dangerous cosmetic operation and a life just isn't worth it.

Uh, uh. Not me. Maybe wide hips, even a little pot belly might be womanly, but not saddlebags. They just make you look big even if you're not.
I do think women should have a little fat on their bodies. I agree with you that it's more feminine to have hips and thighs and even a booty -- but NOT saddlebags! http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Pilates!!!
I got the Mari Winsor pilates legs and thighs video and did the exercises. It took 6 months and it didn't look like ANYTHING was happening but I stuck with it and one morning I woke up with perfect thighs http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/trampoline.gif
I have no idea where the saddlebags went but they're completely GONE!! I also don't know why it took so long to get results, but it was worth it. Just in time for swimsuit season, too.
I haven't done the exercises in a few weeks and the saddlebads haven't come back, but I'm going to resume them again just in case.

Boadicea, how often were you doing Pilates? Like how many times per week? And were you doing anything else for weight loss at the same time, like dieting or any other workouts?
Congrats on your success!

are you sure you had saddlebags boadicea??? cause usually when you have them you can't get rid of them. maybe you had bigger thighs and the fat melted but saddlebags are very stubborn. you can be slim, or even skinny/bony, all over but some females just have saddlebags. like i said earlier, it has to do a lot with your genes.

I also know that most women basketball players do not have saddlebags. I think it's because of all the practices of the defensive slide, plus incorporating it into the game on defense. My sister use to play basketball, and she had no saddlebags whatsoever. Now, she's gained a lot of weight and still no saddlebags. I think it comes from her 7 years of playing basketball.

Nay,
When I lose weight, I lose my saddlebags. It's definitely possible.

Hey, stretching can also help tone and lengthen muscle.
i find that one of the best ways to do my inner thighs is to stand sideways on to a wall about a metre away from it and put my leg nearest the wall onto the wall (standing on one leg)and then turning my foot upwards. i then kinda scooch up with my toes and lean in towards the wall. i hold it there for about a minute (at the "biting" point)

No, I only do Pilates and Bellydancing. I don't diet and I barely eat healthy but I'm trying. And I definitely had saddlebags. They've been there for quite awhile. Since I was about 14. I did pilates for buns and thighs three times a week for a half an hour:
20 leg rotations (big circles) fowards
20 leg rotations (big circles) backwards
20 leg rotations (small circles) fowards
20 leg rotations (small circles) backwards
48 leg lifts each leg
Lay straight out on your right side. Prop your head up on your right hand. Place your left foot on the mat, behind your right ankle. Lift your right foot up to your left knee, hold for one second, put it dow. Do 4 sets of 12. When done, lay on your left side and do 4 sets of 12.
I never used any gym equipment. I did this in my own home on a queen sized bed and I used the Winsor Pilates tapes that I bought from the infomercial.
If saddlebags are the huge store of fat on the sides of your thighs, that's what I had.
I even had mini saddlebags on the inner thighs. Before, when I would wear shorts in the summer, my inner thighs always touched and rubbed against each other. When I would put on pants, I would have a nice waist and hips but then there were these huge saddle bags sticking out on the sides, in one area.

Here's a web site I keep on hand that shows about 40 of the many Pilates mat workouts. Just click on the name and the pictured demonstration should come up. It doesn't compare to the videos because the videos show you how to breathe when doing them which REALLY makes a difference in relaxation and ability to do the fluid movements.
