....to buy instead of buying some quick weight-loss gimmick.
I started thinking about this when I read that many weren't seeing results from the slimpatch (although some still are). Let's think of some things (101?) that you can buy/invest in that will be positve for your body and won't be a get slim quick kind of thing.
For example:
1. I signed up for weight watchers. I know that the money I spend there is going to help me learn to control portions and handle tough eating situations.
2. Pilates- I am going to buy a mat and tape (maybe even a stability ball) today. The $30 dollars I spend there won't go to waste (if I use it:lol: ) and will help to make me lean, tone, control my breathing and posture, and loose weight!
now you think of some!.....

3. you can buy good, healthy snacks instead of chips, candy, chocolate, and all that.

4. You can substitute sodas with Crystal Light on the Go packets that are to be placed in your bottled water. This will help make your water quota as well as give you an alternative to sugary sodas.:)
5. Drinking water is so important for weight loss, so here's another water-related tip: Flavor your water with Vit C. Fresh lemon is good, but my favorite are the Vit C packets that contain 1000 mg of MSM. ;)

6. Any exercise DVD, if you like to watch tv, you might as well lose weight while your doing it!
7. Healthy Food that will boost your energy - I finally get it---its not always how much you eat but what you eat! Food that helps me get through the day and stay AWAY from the garbage :
- Banannas
- V8 Juice
- Pomegranate Juice ( POM )
- Apples
- Granola Bars
- Water
- Vitamins
- Flax Seed Oil
- Blueberries
- Carrots
- Celery sticks with peanut butter
- Trail Mix ( nuts & seeds )
- Oatmeal

8. Get involved in fun outdoor activities such as biking, hiking, etc., with a friend or fitness buddy. All fitness acitivities don't have to feel like work! ;)

Well we must all be out throwing $$ at the gimmicks cause this list only made it to nine.
10. Language CDs/Software. If you learn the language before you travel, you'll be able to go further off the beaten path. Self-guided tours= lots of walking= pounds lost.
11. Lessons in activities that we dreamed of as kids: Trapeze, Ski, karate. All fun ways to lose calories
12. Small DYI projects around the house.
13. Art supplies. Expending creative energy calms the mind and can lower blood pressure.

14. If you can't workout for 30 or 60 minutes straight, do 10 minute bouts throughout the day.
15. Eat a fruit or vegetable at each meal. Q

16. Self Esteem. What's the point of losing 50 lbs if you still lack confidence in everyday life? Love yourself for who you are before you lose weight. Embrace your body and enjoy your life each day!

17. Forget the expensive gym! Gather your friends and family together and play an outdoor game like baseball or Red Rover. Fun for the kids and a way to get people exercising before they even know it. Challegning another family or neighbor to make it competitive:)

Instead of buying the next gimmick you can
18. Save toward a really great mattress set
19. Buy 1000 thread count sheets (someone told me they exist)
20. Buy a pillow that won't collect dust/mites
All of these will lead to a good night's sleep. Supposedly we eat more when we are sleepy b/c we need the energy.
