Try Black Opal Advanced Dual Complex Fade Gel. Works very well in conjunction with Glycolic acid products such as MD Forte.

Anyone one know how long this kind of stuff takes to work?

It has never really bothered me before but I am noticing that I have alot of spots on my legs and when i think back alot of women in my family have them. At the risk of grossing anyone out, they just look like a miniature ingrown hair in every pore. Does anyone know what I am talking abut? i also have them around my elbow area. I never bothered them before but just recently I noticed that they are infact little ingrown hairs if you are looking closely enough. what can I use to even out my skin tone and more importantly get rid of this problem?

Does ambi and those sort of creams work for the rest of you body? Or is there one that is stronger?

You should give Tone bath soap a try. You have to be consistent with it though. Last summer I had spots all over my back and so I started showering with Tone soap and of course by now, all the spots are gone off my back. It's the only bath soap I use, and it truly does even out your skin tone. It must be the cocoa butter.

I agree the tone soap is really good.

Thanks for the suggestion, can I buy that at any store? Like a walgreens or Wal-mart?

Hi Camille:

You have folliculitis on your legs. I have them around my knees, on my thighs, and on the back of my arms. The best thing you can do is pay attention to these areas in the shower or bath, and make sure that you scrub them. After a few months, they should be completely gone.

Thank you Honey Vibe! I looked up alot of info on the topic, I'm just wondering, what kind of bath accesories should I use? A Loofah Sponge, or will a plain ol' rag do? and do you have any suggestions for the type of soap to use and which ones aren't that great for people with this condition? I use alot of body washes and if that is too mild, I'd really like to know. I'm going to buy the Tone soap today for the dark spots left behind.

Camille, you'll want to use something with salicylic acid in it to exfoliate or the loofah you referenced, but use it gently. In a pinch, you can use a little baking soda in a liquid body wash. Also a lotion with lactic acid will help such as LacHydrin, which in the US, you can find at the drug store or AmLactin, some times you can find at the drug store or at www.dermastore.com. (http://www.dermastore.com.)

I have been using Estorica, and it hasn't helped me. I have this one dark pimple in the middle of my face like an Indian, instead of it being red it's black. Thank God my bang cover half of it. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Hi Camille,
Make sure that your soap is antibacterial. A regular hand towel should be just fine. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Best of luck!

Ok this is what I am thinking, I have purchased a loofah sponge, but to tell you the truth I was throughly disappointed, it didn't feel like it ws doing anything /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif but i used it anyway. Like I said I am going to start using depilitories and is Palmer's cocoa butter too oily for my skin? I read somewhere, that if you have this condition then you shouldn't, but I want the effects of the cocoa butter. I was going to buy that Tone soap, but I went to Walmart and they only sold it in like a 16 pack, so I was going to try some other places. Thank you so much for your advice /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif, are your bumps gone completely? Do they return? and what do you do for the scars left behind?

They're completely gone for my sister, but there are still some on my legs. They tend to get worse in the winter, when I wear tight pants that trap dirt and won't allow my skin to breath. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/look.gif

The only Tone soap I've seen comes in the Tropical Island scent. Do they still make the unscented one?

Today I purchased Palmers Cocoa butter soap, Nadiola Cocoa butter and "Herbal Logix" Spot scar and blemish creme. It has willow bark extract which is a natural souce of salicylic acid. I am going to try it, but if I see any abnormal bleaching, I'm going to stop. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hey ladies,
I break out and typically it leaves dark spots. I believe the secret to ridding your skin of dark marks is to use a high sunscreen on the area (SPF 30 UVA/UVB). I use that due to my dermatologist's recommendation. She says the sun causes di-pigmentation of the skin. I can say in 5 months I went from muliple marks on my face to practically none. I have some blackheads that I don't like and a portion of my face that looks porous. I use glycolic acid daily (once a day suppose to use 2x per day /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif) and it has made a 100% difference. I use my sunscreen everyday and my dermatologist told me that is the key to maintaining clear skin. I may try some sunscreen on a scar and see if it makes a difference. HTH

No darling I don't have dents in my face. The skin tone is not completely smooth in 1 area. Unless u were up in my face hardcore u would never know. I want my skin tone completely even and that is why I am trying glycolic peels as advised by my dermatologist.

Bonjour nappi, I bought the Herbal logix @ Target, you may be able to find the same thing @ Zellers or Wal-mart up North. I've noticed a signifigant difference in my skin, it just feels softer, I think it is the Palmer's. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

NayNay I've been using the sunscreen (spf 30)for about 2 to 3 weeks now and I notice a big difference in my skin. I know it's partly because of my tan in Florida but I also know that if I hadn't used sunscreen my dark marks would have tanned and stood out. I'm considering using a more powerful sunscreen but I haven't gotten a chance to run by CVS.

Actually I'm doing the cheapy version and it seems to be working quite well:

Dark spots- straight lemon juice as a toner (stings like the dickens but noticeable improvement if left on overnight)this can be fresh or bottled. lime juce works too.

Foliculitis- dry brushing with a natural bristle brush (really good for circulation and getting rid of cellulite).

Yes,let us know, I have been using SPF 30 since I can remember . i also use Nivea Firming and anti wrinkle cream and THAT has spf 4, I use it 2x a day so I think it works out. Oh! just yesterday I bought Almay anti-chapping lipstick in "Neutral" and i LOVE it! it makes your lips feel tingly b/c it had menthol in it and also has spf 30 which protects my lips. Out here the sun is BRUTAL so I want my skin to be "covered" http://64.62.140.213/~longhair/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hello:

In the past I have used vitamin e oil on dark spots and it has worked. you may want to try something with vitamin k. hydroquinone is a spot diminisher.

Sorry ladies I haven't watched this post. I have been using sunscreen since 10/02 and it makes a BIG difference. My blackheads are almost gone and I have a FEW spots. I use Differen gel on new acne (prescription and that works wonders for me)
Sunscreen- I use MD Forte Environmental Protection Cream. It is a UVA/UVB SPF 30. It has zinc oxide in it and I only use a dime amount. I pay attention to any new acne and cover that well. Sometimes no mark even shows up!!!!!
Glycolic Acid- I also use the MD Forte Facial Cleanser I. It has 12% gycolic acid. There are other products that have more glycolic acid and I will post a website that Legs gave me where you can purchase it at the end without a dermatologist. I use it once per day. You can use 2x or more in the beginning. I put it on just like soap and wash it off. The longer I leave it on the more tingles I fee.I got the products from my dermatologist-Allergen is the distributor, BUT as I said you can order from the following web site!
I really like the products and though they are EXPENSIVE I am going to say with it. When I was in my early 20's I broke out a lot and I have tried everything from benzoyl perozide, antiboitoics, Retina A, sulfur pills, and even natural products. Actually the natual products worked the best and gylcolic acid is a plan derivative so I guess that falls in the category too!
Good luck ladies and here is the web site! I haven't ordered from the web site but it is a lot CHEAPER than my dermatologist!

NayNay
03-31-2003, 05:03 PM
No I think a pharmacy one would work but make sure it is a heavy one. some of them contain zinc oxide too and it has to protect against UVA/UVB too and be at least 30. That is what my dermatologist told me. I think someone posted a good brand....check legs posts ....I think she was the one that suggested a good drug store brand!

They sell it at Sephora.

Camille, Use a Buff Puff for your legs. I think they make a large one for body. I use the regular one on my face daily. The lemon juice thing sounds good too!
