Has anyone picked up First magazine and read the article about the rice diet. Unlike the name it is not centered around rice. The article says you can drop 8lbs in a week. I have lost 4lbs in 2 days!http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rice_Diet

This is the same diet that Andre Leon Talley (from Vouge magazine) went on. He said it changed his life and he looked fit and healthy when he was on Oprah.

I live in Raleigh, NC. When in college, I worked as an floating assistant manager for Eckerd Drugs and I worked frequently at the on on Broad Street in DUrham. It is right across the street from Duke.
The Ricers (that's what they are called) were huge. 400, 500, 600 lb people who would do the diet, walk all around campus, engage in their diet group affairs (yes, they would tell some stories about wh they slept with), and then come into our store and buy candy bars, and chips, etc.
And the Rice diet aint cheap when you come to Durham. It costs some money.
I didn't know they had published it.
I may have to read up on it.

Thank you for posting this. I went and bought First magazine after reading your post, but because of the holiday I didn't start until last Monday (June 5th). I've already lost 8 pounds and that's with zero exercise. I had surgery a few weeks ago so I can't workout yet, but I plan to start walking next week.

Congrats on the weight loss! I need to start back on this diet, it was making me feel really good. I'm in nursing school right now so I am pretty stressed out, so I resort to eating junk. Keep up the weight loss!;)

You know what? More that the weight loss, I'm surprised at how good I feel. I'm sleeping better, have more energy, and I'm never hungry. I'm used to filling up on junk food, but I haven't had any cravings yet. The only hard part is not adding salt to my food. Do you know of any spices that will give a salt-like taste?

For the first day, it's 2 starches and 2 fruits for breakfast, lunch and dinner (total = 6 each).
For days 2-7, breakfast is 1 starch, 1 dairy 1 fruit.
Lunch is 3 starches, 3 veggies, 1 fruit.
Dinner is 3 starches, 3 veggies, 1 fruit.
