I've scheduled a facial at an *upscale* skincare/plastic surgery center in a few weeks.
The website says it recommends these skincare lines.
Of course they're not cheap.
Any experiences ladies?

I have used the Obagi line. I didn't like it. I followed the directions to the "T" and it made my skin blotchy. There are certain products in the line that are okay, such as Exfoderm and Exfoderm Forte. But the fade creams "Clear" and "Blender", like I said, made my skintone really uneven and splotchy. Hope this helps.

Is this a black salon/doctor? Products are all good but most upscale blacks recommend other products lines such as:

MD Forte

Skin Medica

Yep, MD Forte is much better and it's what I currently use. It has cleaned up the mess Obagi left.

Oh dear lord no, stay away from Obagi. My face was screaming for mercy the whole time I was using it.
Was faithful for 6 months, and it never did clear up.

I'm sure others may have had good results, but noone I know who's used it has.

I guess I'm the only one that loved Obagi! I had melasma and it cleared it up in 6 months. However, I will say that Obagi is very aggressive and can make your skin VERY sensitive. It was well worth every penny I paid!

wow, i'd almost forgotten about this post since i hadn't heard anything.
THANKS FOR FINALLY REPLYING LADIES!!

sounds like i'm avoiding obagi based on your recommendations.

no this is *not* a black/african american dermatalogist but it's considered one of the best in the area.
the woman who's over the skincare center, NOT the doctor, is african american though.
the preliminary facial is $100!!!!!!!!!!
but promises an in-depth skin analysis so they can determine your follow-up treatment.

unfortunately, i made a serious skin boo-boo.
after using ambi to *lighten* my neck, some of it was left on my hands when i applied eye creme.
which resulted in light spots under and around my EYES -> i looked like a REVERSE RACOON!!!!!!!!!!
at home micro with Women of Color (available @ Walgreens) followed with creme de la mer creme (bought on e-bay) evened out my skin color, except in one stubborn spot.
that's why i'm headed to the dermatologist.
