with NO SPOTS!!
LADIES!! I had to share!
Okay, so I've been using my acne treatments (usually a 3 piece kit) since August of 2005. They always worked sooo well, but they never cleared up my dark spots. I went from Proactive to Klear Action to Acne Free thinking that one of them had the golden ticket to clearing me up.
This past month, (April), I've added sunscreen to my morning facial ritual, so I use my AcneFree and then put on eith an SPF 15 or SPF 30. The difference! OMG! I wish I had taken pictures! They are fading like nobody's business! My skin is clearing up so much, and I know if I continue it will be like butta, or Divine Inspirations skin (yeah I had to shout the queen out!).
If any of you have this problem (which has plagued me since puberty), PLEASE add sunscreen to your regime!!
SUNSCREEN, IT'S THE TRUTH:up:

What type of sunscreen do use? A lot of them make my skin worse, and the higher SPFs (over 15) make my skin white.

There are special sunscreens for the face, I use wither Clean and Clear Morning Burst, Mary Kay UUltimate protection Sunblock, or AVON's Beautifully Protected (both are SPF 30 AND might I add I got them each for $3 on ebay!!). I know that the Clean and Clear is a bit oily, but I suggest trying Mary Kay's which has the consistency more of a sunscreen without making you pasty.:)

Neutrogena Dry Touch sunscreen is one of the best. Paula Begoun also has an excellent sunscreen. I'm using her whole system right now & loving it!.

This is the best (most protection) Amercian sunscreen on the market. I used this for years until recently.
I now use a French sunscreen called La Roche Posay Fluide Extreme. It's awesome and doesn't leave the white film.

I use moisturizers with SPF in it. I'm using Murad moisturizer with spf 30. I also use Photo finish with spf in it. It is great for keeping your skin free of blackheads.

I wonder if there's a natural sunscreen that might have this effect?
I don't like putting commercial products on my face ...I just use olive oil and sugar mixed in my kitchen ...that keeps me clean and clear ...but MSM gave me two big zits which are now dark spots that I'm trying to get rid of :(...
Plus, I'd just like better evening over all.

Eiano,
I'm a lil confused... do you have NO SPOTS or are the dark spots fading from wearing sunscreen???
When you say NO SPOTS, do you mean after you have a breakout, the sunscreen prevents it from leaving dark spots???
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for this post Eiano! It really solidified for me the importance of sunscreen! I've always been one to put it on if it was convenient, but it wasn't a daily routine for me. Since I run now and the sun is out more I've added it to my routine, and I'm already noticing a difference in how fast my post-acne marks are fading... I definitely can see that unprotected sun exposure prolongs them... So thanks for the reminder!

Ok Poohbear, I'll clarify that...
What I mean is unfortunately I still get the dark spots after a pimple. But I RARELY get pimples since using my acne treatments, but when I do, I get the dark marks:(
BUT I've been noticing that when I put on the sunscreen, the dark mark that DOES come in has been coming in closer to my natural color, but still dark. They have been fading though, and please believe it, my skin is sooooooooo much more toned than it was before. Like, it's almost unbelievable. It has to be the sunscreen. It's the only thing I've done new to my face. I had one troublesome dark mark on my cheek since January and after using my avon sunscreen this particular one is GONE!! completely!!!
Kisses: Yes I never knew how important sunscreen was.. (you know I had that mentality that only whites or light folk need it). Not only is it good protection, but it's good for *us* and our complexion.:)
I'm convinced this is how Kenya Moore, Beyonce, Nia whoever... keep their skin looking so good, especially the ones not naturally blessed with good skin.
