I usually wear MAC Studio Fix in NC45, but lately I've noticed that it turns orange after a few hours. Soooo, I want to try another brand, but I don't have the time (or desire) to go to the nearest mall. What brands do you recommend and what color do you use? I was thinking abot trying Prescriptives or Clinique. I'd prefer a powder foundation, but I'll consider a liquid. TIA :)

You know, I noticed that too! The last couple I bought, I ended up with that problem...I thought it was because my face was just getting really oily and that messed with the color.

I just tried Jane Iredale Mineral Foundation...I like it, and it matches my skin (I use maple). Only problem is, it's pretty expensive! Try Prescriptives, they've got good color matching, I know some of the ladies on this board seem to like it very much.

That's what I thought too!! But, I had some Lancome foundation so I tried that to see if I got the same results...I didn't. So then I figured it must be the MAC. I think a few ladies here made that complaint about MAC before, but at the time I thought it was just them since I didn't have any problems..maybe I was in denile :look: Thanks for the suggestions, I'll look into it, especially the Mineral foundation.

I had the same problem a few years ago. I was told that during the summer we produce more sweat glands and this will affect the look of your foundation. I have since switched to NC50 and I love it. It matches my skin perfectly and I never have a problem with redness/orange. NC is for those that have yellow undertones. If you are bleaching your skin to remove marks, your foundation may need to be adjusted because your skin is lighter.
Thus, the reason why your NW45 is looking orange.

Thus, the reason why your NW45 is looking orange. That's an interesting theory. I haven't used any skin lighteners, but I did do a few chemical peels. Maybe I will give the MAC another try.

MAC foundations break out my skin. I love Bobby Brown foundation. It is well worth the $35. I use the smooth line in the tiny jar. It looks very natural on my skin.

I actually found this problem out last summer... I didnt find a resolution, per se...... I just replaced and started using tru match by loreal the caramel joint, but that started to look dry, now I am back to mac, and I use the face and body foundation... it so much lighter, which is one ofthe biggest problems I had with studio tech, especially since it is summer and all that sweat... The B&F foundation does not totally cover up blemishes.. so I use a lil studio tech to cover those spots...

You should definitely give it another try because it has nothing to do with MAC. Your skin is producing more sweat glands and then you are doing chemical peels. Peels will lighten your skin so you may need to get NC50. NW45 is for those that have red/orange undertones. If you are peeling, you may now have yellow undertones.

Go to the MAC counter and ask to speak with a specialist. They will match you up. I love MAC because they have products for all skin types/colors. They have this new studio fix (liquid) with SPF 15 in it. It goes on wet but drys to a Matte full-coverage finish. I love it!

I had the same problem also with NC45 and swictched to NC50.
I am in love with NC50 and will never look back.
The only I used differently was Himani Gold Creme which has improved my skin tone and lighten my skin a little.

Ohhhh, thanks!! I had always heard people say they wear c7 or nc45 so i thought they were the same color but with a different name  Thanks for clearing that up. Ok, I think I will go that route because my skin has been looking a little more yellowish since doing the peels. BTW, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all of your make up looks!!!!

I am a NC 44 but I used to have a problem with C7 and they switched me. I can wear 2 or 3 shades with MAC and you should probably have them match you. I'm a Studio Tech kinda woman.

I've used Prescriptives before. I'd say because they can custom blend your liquid foundation and/or powder they are probably a better match to your skin tone than MAC, although a little more expensive. I would always get compliments or have people ask what type of make-up I wore because it looked so natural. I switched over to MAC Studio Fix because it was less expensive.

I don't wear it anymore either. I now wear Fashion Fair's (I know) foundation stick in Tender. WONDERFUL. I also use Prescriptives' pressed powder in level 5.

If you want a very NATURAL looking powder foundation you should try 'Mally Beauty' Visible Skin Adjustable Coverage foundation. I swear it literally 'melts' into your skin. It will keep you matte like SF, but w/o the dry cakey look that SF tends to give, and it doesn't turn. I use RICH. I used to use SF and BE, and will not look back after trying Mally's. When you apply it w/ a powder brush the finish is flawless!

I've never heard of this brand before. Where can you find it at?

I know they carry the Mally line at Sephora and, I believe, on QVC (or HSN or one of those other home shopping channels...) I noticed the same thing, in terms of the NC45 color turning orangey/reddish on me as well. The Counter Manager at Nordstrom told me they reformulated a few of the darker shades to "match" a wider range of darker skinned honeys (us :D ). In any event, NC45 (Studio Fix) doesn't work for me anymore... At first I thought it was because I was using Retin-A (which I think was still some of the issue) but she assured me that it was the reformulation.

I have since been using Nars Powder Foundation in Jamaica. It's okay, not a perfect match like NC45 used to be... AND FORTY-FIVE FREAKIN' DOLLARS!!!*sigh* Maybe I'll skip on over to Fashion Fair  ... Yeah, yeah... I know...

I wear C6 in studio fix..but sometimes it can look kind of cakey on my skin.. So I switch between that and SUE DEVITT in nubuliar plain.....I work at sephora so I get to try foundations and see which ones I like..and I must say sue devitt is one of the best..it is a treatment foundation which has seaweed, antioxidants, chamomile and vit C added to all of her foundations ...so it gives a great natural finish and is great for your skin...I think you ladies should give it a try. She has a foundation for every skin type..a gel foundation for oily skin..a whipped foundation for dry/normal skin...loose powders and pressed powder foundations.-Melissa
