Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both adult men and women.

According to the calculator, what is your Body mass index (BMI)?

Based on my last weigh in at the end of March I was 133lbs. So it says I'm overweight (BMI 25). I'll weight myself again by the end of this week to see if I've lost anymore. I only do it once a month.:)

for my height, i'm supposed to be about btwn 111 and 115lbs or something like that. i don't know if i will ever be that light again. i'm 130 now and i'm 4'11. i don't really care what i weigh. i just want to be in shape. muscle weighs more than fat so for all i know, my weight may never get lighter. does that mean i will always be overweight according to this calculator?

BMI is not really a determination of body fat. It's strictly weight and height. So it really doesn't tell you how fit you are since it doesn't differentiate . African-Americans usually have a higher bone density than other people, so our BMI's are naturally higher. To measure your body fat, try a body fat calculator which uses your current weight and measurements.

Mines 24.5 but I've been losing wieght steadily since christmas. I wanna be an even 9 stone (126lbs) as I'm only 5'2", my tanita scales tell me i'm 27% fat which I think is also a little too much. When I started tryin to lose weight I was 31% fat, where 30% is considered overweight, my bmi was saying 26.43 then. I dont think it's very specific in terms of the ideal. For example you cant really say "Oh I need to lose 1 (i dont even know the units) of my bmi" because you dont rally know what it constitutes where was with body fat you have a rough idea. And like baglady said, it's not accurte if you have alot of muscle as a volume of muscle weighs more than the same volume of fat.

for my height of 5'4'' i'm supposed to weigh between (this one site i checked said this) 130-159. i'm obsese. my bmi is 36.5 but i'm avidly working to get down to 160 with my weight which is my absolute goal weight and would leave with a BMI of 27.5 which is still overweight by their measures but would only put me 20 pounds over the suggested weight for my height group which im more than fine with! i'm getting there slowly but surely!;)

Mine is 32.8, which is obese for my height at 5'3. The funny thing is, it's all in my stomach, . I'm all gut, which is reallllllyyyy unsightly.

I'll have to lose 50 pounds to be in the normal range. Damn, I really am fat. :(
