Does anyone know the best way to find a conclear, liquid foundation and powder to match your exact skin color? Should I go to those makeup spots in stores like Macy? If they give you the right makeup to match your skin color are you obliged to buy the product from them? Thank you

Dido111,

Yes, that is the best way to match up your exact skin color. After getting matched up, you are not obliged to purchase the product from them. Take a girlfriend or a female relative, and have some fun doing it. One of my aunts and I have gone to Nordstrom, and we visited the MAC and the Bobbi Brown counters and it was a lot of fun. Please keep us posted.

Dido-

Prescriptives will make an EXACT (MADE TO ORDER) liquid foundation for you at their counter for $55 (I think). They mix it up for you after determining your exact skin color.

I've never had this done, but I used to use Prescriptives for years (until they discountinued my favorite oil-free foundation).

By the way, you might want to try the READY MADE Prescriptives foundations first as they have several colors and you might find one that matches your skin exactly. The ready made foundations are cheaper $28? or so.

Yes, Prescriptives foundation line I LOVE it. Talking about the exact match for my complexion. I use Real Antelope for my skin or if I go heavier, Rich Tan. Its very light and you cannot (at least with me) detect that I'm wearing foundation.

If you live in Manhattan, an excellent makeup artist to see at the Mac counter in Macy's is Octavio.

I used to use Antelope, too. It matched my skin EXACTLY. But, I used to use the formulation that was oil-free and water-based and you had to "shake it up." When it sat it would separate: the powder would separate from the water and settle at the bottom of the bottle.

Prescriptions doesn't make this foundation anymore and for some reason the "oil-free" formulations they have now make my skin shine.

The best way to tell if a foundation, concealer, or powder matches your skin tone is to look at it in natural lighting meaning after the sales rep applies the product go outside with a mirror and look at it in daylight. The artificial light in the store does not show the natural effect of the product.

I have found that Prescriptives and MAC have a great selection of products especially Prescriptives which not only matched but they have a variety of formulations to match your skin type and the climate. HTH
