Okay i know im really suppose to be apart of the Turbo Jam Challenge but unfourntately sadly my Turbo Jam has taken a back seat because of me working two full time jobs monday thru friday and by the time saturday and sunday comes im so so tired and trying to run around to get everything done for those two days that i werent able to do during the week(im really praying that it will get easier and something else will come better)...so that makes me not have any time for exercise...i miss working out..my question is basically can i still lose weight with just eating a good healthy plan...my mom seems to think that i will lose weight because im not able to eat and go to sleep and im staying active basically all day...do u think its possible for a person to still lose weight without working out??

i think that you can - i mean if you're eating really really well and doing more than just sitting at a desk you can probably lose... not as much as if you were exercising but still maybe a pound or two a month... i'm REALLY hoping though that it all works out and you can come back to us over on TJ... :trampolin

yea me too girl..dont u know how much i miss it now that we have it stickyed at the top of the thread and i see all of u commenting about how far yall have came :( ...i thought that i could at least fit the 20 minutes in during the week...but looking at how my schedule is there isnt going to be a way for me to do so...unless im feeling fully energized on the weekend that'll be the only two days i can get exercise in but that is better then no exercise if i can...but i'll just have to see...im just asking this question to see if anyone knows of anyone or has done so in the past just by eating well and no exercise(well at least the type to get the blood flowing)....

Definitely! Weight loss is about eating fewer calories than you burn. The burn can be daily life or life+ activities/
Last year I lost about 5lbs with zero exercise. Think of gastric bypass patients, their first few months usually have little or no excercise and weight loss comes strictly from reducing calories.

The downside is: the closer you get to your goal, the more strict you have to be to lose, and exercise reshapes your body. So you look better.

Good luck :)

i wish!!!! i hate exercising!!!

you will lose some weight just by changing your eating habits. but you won't lose the weight you were looking for without exercise. if all you wanted to do was lose a few pounds (less than 10) in a year or maintain your weight, then just healthy eating is fine. but more than that is going to require some type of exercise.

if you can find the time, all you need is 30-45mins of cardio. cardio can be marching in place and hamstring curls (kicking-yourself-in-the-butt curls). no gym membership or equipment necessary. or try some yoga before you leave for work in the morning. i know, easier said than done.

exercise is also good for other things besides weight loss. its good for your heart and improves your mood. it can also give you energy (so you aren't so tired on the weekends).

good luck!

I can.

But, since I like to eat bad stuff sometimes and I like have good muscle tone, I would not be complete w/o working out.

Plus as I age, I want to avoid looking flabby.

My two cents is that, yes, you can lose weight without exercise. But it's very, very difficult to maintain that weightloss without it. All the people who I know who have maintained a weightloss over the course of one or two years and up did it by watching what they eat AND exercising.

thanks everyone for their replies...i will try to modify my diet and work on that first..and then see whats easy to add in exercise....i know i read that thats what this lady in fitness magazine did she worked on her diet first and then added exercise in...but that was after she lost like 45 pounds...
