I used it in May up until recently when I ran out. I like it and highly suggest it. I had the T-zone thing going on so of course it does dry the average skin out.
I simply dabbed some moisturizer on it and go. The only reason why I use something else is because I have committment issues /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif. Everytime I discover something new, I have to try it. So now I'm onto something else.
But Proactive worked for me.

I used ProActiv and was not pleased with the product. It made my skin very dry. In fact it only irritated my skin instead of improving it. I wouldn't suggest using the product if you have minor skin problems.

I have Proactive now and am returning it to the company within a week. It made my skin break out as though I had a beard. It doesn't really lather and to me does not cause the skin to feel clean.

I used it a long time ago and it made my skin very dry...not to mention those exfoliating pieces that would get in my eye. It did clear up skin problems I had, but I guess my breakouts were temporary and my skin wasn't as oily as someone with acne would have.

I use ProActive and I have to say that it is the only thing that worked for me. It drys out the skin but they have improved the moisturizer and even have a few new ones now that have more moisture. I say try it. It doesn't produce the same results for everyone but if you have bad acne, what else have you got to lose.
It really irritated my skin and made my acne worse. If you are allergic to benzoyl peroxide or have sensitive skin PLEASE avoid this product like the plague!!
I use their dandruff shampoo which is really good. It doesn't lather that much, which bothers my beautician, but my dandruff and itching are at a minimum.

I have had very oily/sensitive skin, and my skin has responded well to it. After my skin cleared up, I found i could cut back too...but my skin must have that toner.

Thanks Pandora, but I've been around this board and the 2-3 other boards before this. I'm far from a Newbie.
Welcome to you Lady Pandora.

Hey girls
I decided to bring out my Proactive from hiding and give it another try. I must say it is definatley working it doesn't make my skin dry out anymore and my blemishes are clearing up. I dont know what I was doing wrong before, I think it's becasue I was using too much of the repairing lotion. Now I only put a tiny amount of repairing lotion, only on the blemishes. Then I use Purpose water based oil free moisturizer that I got from CVS all over my face. Im in love with Proactive.

I think in my opinion Proactiv can work for the majority of the people but I think sometimes, people don't give it a chance to work. I mean, I had a friend who claimed it doesn't work period and she even suggested, it wasn't working for me because my skin looked bad but you HAVE to give it time. I gave it three months. I think the informercials can sometimes mislead you into think, it will clear yor skin within two weeks, which I think is a lie but I guess everyone is different. Another thing, some people don't use the whole system and to get optimal results, you have to use all 3 steps. And I also think Proactiv is for people with more oily skin because my skin gets dry sometimes when I use it but I don't mind becuase I have oily skin. My sister has normal skin and when she tried Proactiv, it worked for her but she really complained about it, when it dried up her skin...

I currently use it and so far it's been good to me. I used it a few years ago when it first came out and it did work then but it was extremely drying out my skin so I quit. After that I tried various things, found something that worked for me (something by L'Oreal for oily skin, I'm having a blonde moment and can't recall the name!). However the L'Oreal product was discontinued and I never found a good substitute so I went back to ProActive. I use the cleanser, toner, repairing lotion, & the special daily oil control cream that amazingly keeps my once-oily complexion oil-free all day & night. The only thing different that I use is St.Ives collagen moisturizer which I apply to countereffect the drying of the ProActiv, I won't even bother to try their brand moisturizer.

My skin is very very sensitive and didn't respond to ProActiv very well.
Walmart carries 2 generic brands that are Proactiv comparisons. I can only remember the name of one "PROACNE". Its selling for $18.88.

This product has worked wonders for me. I wouldn't call my skin acne prone but I do break out once a month before my period. I've also used the generic version from walmart "Proacne" and it works just as well. I have dry skin on the best of days, so after I've applied the repairing lotion, I follow up with curel. My skin has never looked better...accept for when I was pregnant. Thought I'd share.
