For those of you who have children, how has pregancy affected your weight?

Before I got pregnant my senior year of high school I weighed 150lbs. That was a while I was cheering and running track. So I was very toned. Then senior year I got pregnant with my first. My final weight just before I delivered was 161lbs and my son weighed 7lbs 8oz. And final weight with my 2nd son was 162lbs and he weighed 7lbs 6oz. After I had them I went right back to my usual size.

I have 1 child. My weight before I was pregnant was 105lbs. Just before I delivered I weighed 135lbs. I also went right back to my original size in less than 6 months. My son was 7lbs 13.5 oz

There wasn't a catagory for me; I gained 60 pounds with all four pregnancies and lost it each time. I didn't start gaining weight until 6 years ago (when my youngest was 9 years old- can't blame it on him!)
Oh yeah, the baby weights were 7lbs 10 and 1/2 oz, 7lbs 9 and 1/2 oz, 7 lbs 5 oz, 8lbs 2 and 1/2 oz.

With my son I started at 160 and averaged that all my life very big boned hippy woman. When I gave birth I was at 200lbs. He was 10'4 he was a whopper. I kept my weight up unitl he was 2 yrs old. Then I just started looking like I needed to be popped:lol: !!!! I have been up and down since then. And still trying to lose its harder when that metabolism slows down.

I can't vote because none of the above applies to me. My first pregnancy I gained a whoping 60 lbs, lost it then put back on 10 then started exercising deligently when I got pregnant last year with baby number 2, I gained 50 lbs lost all of it, but need to loose that 10-15 lb residue from first pregnancy.

For those of you who have children, how has pregancy affected your weight?

The first I only gained about 25 pounds and bounced right back within a month, people couldnt even beleive I had a baby. The second and third are a different story, I gained 70 with the 2nd and 50 with the second, I got up to a whooping 200!!! pounds with the second and third pregs and I'm only 5'2, I'm still getting it off, I dont think my stomach will ever be the same

Before I was pregnant I was a size 0 and weighed around 97lbs I'm also short about 5'1. Have always had a very high metabolism and never weighed over 100lbs until becoming pregnant. I was 145lbs the day I delivered my son.
I didn't really pay attention to how long it took me to lose the weight. I only noticed when clothes didn't fit me anymore. I know about 6 months after delivering I was in a size 5 (first pic attached). So to really answer the question I wasn't able to fit back into my pre-pregnancy clothes until just recently and now my son is 2.

I dont think my stomach will ever be the same

U can say that again! I don't think my back will be the same again either! :ohwell: I'll definately need a tummy tuck after our next child..lol

Ms. Kendra,

You're so cute.

This is a good thread. You ladies have such good attitudes. I don't have any kids yet. Sometimes my thoughts about having them are so vain and selfish as far as what I think might happen to my body.

But from reading you ladies' posts, it's not so bad.

I am thinking that #1: it's helpful to be in shape before getting pregnant and #2: to remember that being pregnant is not a license to eat like a cow.

Am I thinking along the right lines about this thing?

This is exactly what I was just thinking. I applaud you guys b/c none of you sound bitter or regretful, and that is wonderful IMO. I have heard so many women go on about how fine they *used* to be and how hard it is to get the weight off, and I've heard one too many women IRL say that they gained a ton weight during the pregnancy and didn't get it off. I suspect that they didn't try very hard b/c these are the types who eat whatever they want and then pretend that they can't understand why the weight won't go.

Kudos to all of you!

That's it exactly; that "eating for two" mindset is a big FAT (fat being the operative word) lie! Obviously you have to make better choices with food, but that doesn't mean you get to eat MORE.
Certainly the better shape you are in when you get pregnant, the better chance of bouncing back!

There wasn't a category for me. With my first, I started out around 130 pounds and gained over 54 pounds    ! I stopped counting my weight gain when I weighed more than my husband :lachen: . I was straight EMBARRASSED when the baby was only 6 pounds 14 ounces. I worked out like a dog for 5 months and by the time I went back to work, I weighed 138 lbs.

Now I am due within 2 weeks. I started out at 142 and have gained 41 pounds. So I am pretty much at the same weight as I was with the last pregnancy, but people tell me I don't look big (yeah, right). To myself, I don't seem as "spread out" or puffy as I did last time. I am hoping...no, make that this weight MUST come off by the time I go back to work in June.

Absolutely true...but also bear in mind, for some people, if you are going to gain a lot of weight while pregnant, then maybe you just are. Last pregnancy I ate EVERYTHING........this pregnancy, I don't have much of an appetite, yet I still gained the same amount of weight. So go figure ;) .

my 1st pregancy i was 125lbs pre pregancy
i drop down to 98lbs by the 12 weeks because i was very ill
by 6 month i was 115 (she was born at 24 weeks at 1 pound and 6oz)
i didn't go back to 125lbs until about 4 years later
by the way she is fine and full of life

now 6 years later i am n my 2nd
i am 8 1/2 months
per pregancy i was 130
was 104lbs at 4 months because of my pregancy illness
but now i am 158 ( that is a good thing for me and the baby)
this is the first time i ever went past 130lbs in my life
if i don't lose some of the lbs right away i don't care
having a healthy baby is well worth it to me
(this one is a boy i got one of each ya me)

With my 1st I gained 35 lbs (he weighed 5.14lbs) and lost all but 10 lbs before getting pregnant with my 2nd. I gained 38 lbs with my second (he weighed 9.2lbs) and quickly started to loose the weight but then like an idiot I got on depo and that Sh*t messed me up and caused me to gain weight like crazy. It took yrs to crawl out from the effects and I'm still not back to my normal weight yet. With this last pregnancy I gained a total of only 9lbs. He weighed 9.8lbs and I immediately lost 20 more pounds after getting home from the hospital so apparently, during the pregnancy I was loosing weight and I'm now 20lbs lighter than when I first got pregnant.

I gained 30 pounds when pregnant and pre-pregnancy weight was 105 pounds. Baby is now 5 1/2 months old, and I am at 112 pounds. I still can't fit into my old clothes with just those 5 extra pounds. I won't diet though until I stop breastfeeding.
