I finally went to the derm and recieved my first laser treatment for these crazy chin hairs that have been sprouting up. It's so bizarre! It's like I have this one area that is fuzzy as hell and I have three spots were the ingrowns happen over and over again. I finally got fed up with the vicious cycle of digging into my skin to pull the hair out resulting in dark spots! It wasn't bad at all. I could smell the hair burning as she did this. 75.00 for the first treatment ( chin/lip) 60 dollars for the treaments thereafter. Recommended 6 to 8 treatments. Can anyone give me any idea of when I can see results. Anyone experience any improvement after the first treatment?

TIA

Where do you live? That's a really good price.

I need to do something myself.. cos the chin hairs arent the things that are killing me.. it's the lip hairs. They've gotten a lot thicker, my husband is always cracking on me.
Calling me magwie and stuff, lol

Where do you go s_terry? I live it Atlanta, too, and I have been trying to find a reasonably priced place. The last place I check said they charge $95 every 15 minutes!

I'd love to have laser done...but after reading so many horror stories about people who get burned, or have dark strips left on their face, it scares the daylights out of me.
I've done electrolysis on my chin...now that HURTS!

Pulse Light is also another option that's great for black skin. If you are interested in lower prices for lasers or pulsed light, you should look into going to university hospitals where they do training. The student doctors are good and the prices are reasonable, I know that's the case in NYC.

$75 per treatment. That is really good! Well, I got my chin, mustache, cheeks, neck (yes...I had hair on ALL of those places!) done and it was $400 per session (pulse laser). And was recommended 6-8 sessions. Well, the first time I got it done, the results lasted for maybe a week. My chin starting growing back first. I ended up getting it done 6 times, and my hair grew back each time. I now am still as hairy as before, and was told that I had a hormonal imbalance and that's why it didn't work for me. So, that's 2400 dollars (not mentioning the gas for the 2 hr drive there) down the drain. I was really hoping that to be the end to my "hairy situation", but it wasn't. I now wax all of those areas once a week.

OH...Before I found the place that I actually got the treatment done, I talked to a laser hair removal specialist closer to my hometown. I went to a consultation in May and they told me that they would do a session then, but wouldn't do another one again until October because they didn't do black people in the summer time! That center didn't use pulse light, but some other kind...I can't remember the name of the laser that they used. That's why I ended up going to a more advanced center two hours away that did use the pulse light laser.

Is there anyone on here who has had laser and has been hair free since?

Nope. Similar results. I had about 6-8 sessions. (At a plastic surgeons office in Dunwoody near Perimeter Mall) I think it was IPL, not sure though. Did TONS of research before I settled on this practice. No scarring. Still hairy. $2000 down the drain. I tried electrolysis for 2 months while in New Orleans. That ish HURTS. It feels like the probe is shooting electrical current into your SOUL. I went to a derm in N.O., right before graduation, for a consult session. It burned, I scabed, it healed, no scar and no hair in that area. Don't know what kinda laser though.

Ok ya'll. IT WORKS!!!! I mean I am not totally hairless, but I haven't had any ingrowns. The hairs aren't growing and I think I only have 3 more treaments left. I STRONGLY recommend this. It's worth it! Look for the JAG Laser treatment. Better for darker skin tones. I am like a brown-golden color. I know golden girl ;-)

I was considering having this done my doctor said 75 dollars also and I would get the first treatment free.
I need to do more research because I dont want to get this done and still have hair sprout up.

I had laser done before I left new york about two years ago. It was my first treatment and cost about 75. I didn't scar at all because the lady put a ice pack on my chin. The results were ok, and lasted for about three weeks. When I moved to Fl, I slacked off and went back to tweezing. But the hair is starting to get out of control and I need to get it done again. This time I will complete all treatments

I just made an appointment to have it done at the UCLA Medical Center in Westwood Ca. It's expensive, but they are supposed to be among the best for black skin. I will let everyone know the results.
