Does nayone have any tips for growing nails? Everytime I use a polish hardener or growth treatment, my nail begins to peel (like it has 2 layers), leaving it even weaker.

My nails peel too.
Don't just use any hardener, use something that specifically says it treats peeling nails- it makes a difference.
Every time you touch up, do a quick buff where it's peeling, just enough to take the peeling part off, and then neaten up the edges and then slap that no peel coat on there, two if you aren't wearing nail polish.
If you use polish, stay away from metallics and sparkles. Those flake and seem to penetrate through the base coat. Use quality products, not anything like Wet -n-Wild, lol!!
Like I said, mine do peel, but that little bit of maintenece gives me nails too long to type with! I always have to trim them back.

I've used several nail growth aids. The only one that made a HUGE difference was Nail Envy by OPI. I wore solar nails for 10 years and my nails were paper thin. Nail Envy made them super hard and they grew really fast. It's on the expensive side though ($15).

Thanks!! I will look for the no-peel polish.

Whenever I make a consistent effort to keep my nails polished they grow. But as soon as I slack off, they break and peel, and then I end up biting then down to nubs....

GNC horsetail pills have helped me tremendously with strong fast growing nails. I would take 4 pills a day and I saw result in less than a week. It was for hair purpose but my nails was just growing so fast..Everybody is different though.

Massaging my bare nails and cuticles with olive oil really made a difference. I would leave the olive oil on for a couple of minutes, then wash my hands. My nails would already feel much stronger and harder.

Also, about a year or so ago I used Qtica nail hardener which I purchased online (I posted about it in the Off Topic forum). It costs a little more (less on Ebay) but it sure works fast! My nails seemed to start growing longer within the week. The key ingredient is garlic.

I suggest first adding Biotin to your daily vitamin regime and for exterior help try Rescue 25 and Natural Additions by DeLore..organic nail hardener and nail polish dryer.. If you've ever heard of a product sold on QVC called T.I.P.S ..Natrual Additions is alot like it but much more reasonable in price.
Both nail products can be found at Sally's Beauty.

When I was taking prenatal pills (no, I was not pregnant!), my nails grew quite a bit. I wasn't taking any other vitamins at the time, so I think it was strictly because I was getting all those needed vitamins.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I HATE taking pills, so I am on the nail envy right now. It's week 2, and my nails are doing good.

Good Nutrition. I thought for so long that I had to get the best nail polish/hardener. Puh!

You have to take of the "inside" first. I soon I stater taking my vitamins and eating this oatmeal/protein shakes...my nails started to grow like crazy. I was very plesently surprised! I wasn't expecting that at all! I had complely given up on having nice pretty long nails that I had envied on others.

Then after you take care of the inside you have retain your nails growth you have to use a nail hardener. I use 2 coats of clear, 1 coat everyday for four mored days, and then repeat the process.

As a licensed nail tech, I found great success with Qtica Natural Nail Growth Stimulator when I did other people's nails and toes. This is what grew my nails out for my wedding.

GNC Biotin 2500, and GNC Hair Skin and Nails have been the only products to really make my nails flourish. I'm telling you, when I was taking 1 GNC Hair skin and nails tablet along with 1 biotin tablet/day, my nails were growing SUPER fast! They were longer than they had EVER been too! Now that I have slacked off in my vitamin intake, my nails have suffered. I have to order some more pills, because those pills are no joke! It got to be to the point where people were looking at my nails like: "wow...your nails are really long!" LOL*

Disclaimer: The pills didn't work right away...you have wait about a month or 2 to REALLY see the difference.

Nail hardeners work fine for protecting my nails, but I haven't really found any that gave me results like the vitamins. I believe that healthy nails (and hair!) come from within, and so while nail strengtheners can only do so much, vitamins that you take internally will probably be your BEST bet in growing long, healthy looking nails. :D
