I am interested in a NYC school as well. I've been interested in learning how to apply makeup and different techniques.

Alli77, are u interested in becoming a makeup artist as well?

Yes, it's been one of my dreams since I am an artist, but my family was deathly against, just as they were about me going to cosmetology school...:ohwell:

Now I'm on my own and pay my own bills and I'm making some decisions for myself!

I have that passion to become a make up artist too! I thought about school, but I can't afford it right now. I'm going to try to get hired a makeup counter and start practicing on myself and family and friends. I want to get some practice in before prom/wedding season starts. Somebody is always looking from someone to do makeup around that time of year. I really want to work for MAC, but I heard that is kinda hard to get into. I have just recently bought some more makeup and a book to work on my techinque. I really want to work on corrective makeup and blending.

I have been wanting to do this for as long as I can remember, but when I was younger, my parents were against me going to cosmetology school. They said that was a dead-end and that it was a profession that wouldn't last. I went to hair school for awhile, but had to stop, because I couldn't afford to pay the tution anymore, since i had got laid off from my job. After that I just decided to go back to college and get my degree, but I really don't want to be in business like that for the rest of my life. I would like to get so good that I get a nomination for an Oscar for doing work on some major motion picture. I'm going to follow my dreams this time. It is going to take me some time though since I have a family of my own now.
