I've had these stretch marks on my shoulders since I was 11 and had a major growth spurt. The skin is smooth, but the marks are like a shade lighter than my natural skin tone. My sweetie (or ex-sweetie) never had a problem with them and he says that i am overly insecure, but he is obviously blinded by love or something. They are right up front. I want to start wearing more halter top and spaghetti strappy things, but I want to try and hide them from the public. So would bronzer work? concealer? I dont know anything about make-up (only lip stick  ).
Is there anyone else with this issue/insecurity?
Jergens has a wonderful "self tanner" that I love! It doesn't wash off or get on your clothes, and looks very natural. I use it on my legs... since they never get any sun. I was AMAZED the first time I used it. I had forgotten that I had put it on and two days later I looked at my nicked up, scarred up legs... and thought "Wow" my legs actually look even and such a pretty color. It's about $6.00 and available everywhere -- Walmart, CVS, even Safeway, drugstore.com! It comes in two colors... medium and dark, I think. I used the medium. The color builds over time 2-3 days and fades slowly, 1-2weeks.

I wouldn't use a bronzer for stretch marks it won't conceal the marks and would probably highlight them bringing more attention to them. Your best bet is trying to cover them with a concealer that is darker than the marks or Dermablend (which you should be able to find the cosmetic section of a dept store). I would probably lean towards Dermablend because it's designed to conceal imperfections on the face and body. I wouldn't use a self tanner because stretch marks are not a result of discoloration or hyperpigmentation but a breakdown in the elasticity of your skin. RetinA is supposed to be good to help fade stretch marks but only if they're fairly new, laser treatments are also supposed to help fade them.

Just for you and because your question piqued my curiosity, Goldensensation :) , I used some of the Jergens on some stretch marks on my bust and stomach. Works like a charm!:yay: Evened the colors right out ... white/red, old/kinda new... I can't even see them now.

Does the dermablend or bronzer rub off on your clothes?

wow! I really needed to read this.
I have stretchmarks on my shoulders as well, for about 8 years now, and they've gotten worse, cos I've gained more weight.
but now that I've started back dieting again.. just in case they dont shrink enough when I do lose the weight and tone up. I'll give that a try.
