i just started this class...i love it...makes me feel ultra sexy. but, tell me this:
is it s'posed to be a workout? i mean, i went armed with a gallon water bottle and a towel and i didn't even break a sweat. to be fair, my arms are a little sore, but that's it. the rest of me feels unworked /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
maybe i was doing it wrong or maybe those those stomach and thigh muscles are already tight... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

If you do it right and often then you should notice a difference in your hips, buns, thighs, abs and plus it is a fun cardiovascular exercise. It doesn't feel like exercise which is the best part of all. It is fun! I usually can't wait for my belly dancing class. I practice at home all the time. I even bought another coin belt thingy, (I've got to learn the name for that thing). Keep it up. It will be worth it. This is the second time I have taken this class and I love it.

ALWAYS REMEMBER TO KEEP YOUR STOMACH IN AS MUCH AS YOU CAN TAKE IT!!!!! This will ensure a flat and muscular stomach. When pulling the stomach in, you start working dormant muscles. Many teachers forget to tell you that. Also concentrate on the stomach movements and different muscles that are being used. I did that and am really sore and it feels good /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
It does make you feel sooo sexy.
Honeyrockette, Do you take belly dancing classes in Manhattan?

Not anymore Pumpkin. I found a place in Queens that offers classes. It only meets twice a month though. Do you know of a good place in the city?

Video tapes? What video tapes? I want a belly dancing video tape. It would be a lot more convenient since I already know the basics.. Where did you get this video? Is there a website? Does it come in DVD also?

There are lots of belly dancing videos and I think they are available on DVD. I have Bellydance Fitness with Veena and Neena. Try a search on amazon.com to find the ones you like.
This is what I have:

I would like to know how the tapes are too.
I have a hip hop video tape and the music is NOT hip hop according to black standards. However, the dance routine is very difficult. I am breathing very hard at the end of the 30 minute session. I supplement the belly dancing with Pilates crunch.
