Hi ladies. I for a colonic recently and the woman who did my colonic told me that I eat too many carbs and that results in yeast in the colon. She said yeast in the colon causes sugar cravings which makes it difficult to diet. It was crazy that she said that because I do have major cravings for something sweet. She said I should take candex or a yeast killer to help with the yeast in my colon. She also said when I get the yeast under control my cravings will disappear and my stomach would get smaller because the yeast causes the stomach to swell and when theres less yeast it would strink in size. Now my question to you ladies, especially those whove gone for colonics, Is all of this true about yeast and has anyone had any experience with this??? t.i.a -Melissa

So if you got alot of yeast in your colon are you supposed to put the medication in your colon? and your stomach suppose to go down when you do so? Sounds crazy.

She is probably saying that you have Candidiasis. The medical establishment has finally recognized that Candida albicans causes overgrowth of yeast in the body. It is not easy to treat.

it's not crazy actually... a yeast infection is a yeast infection, and once it infects your gut, it is hard to get out.
Yes, it starts in your colon, and then moves to your stomach and any other open areas inside your gut. meaning, outside of your colon, between muscle walls, etc.
Since it is an infection, it is hard to get out, but once you do, yes, the yeast that's trapped in areas where it shouldn't be will disappear, and your gut will go down..
that's why they say that pot bellies are hard to get rid of... in many cases, it's yeast... (and fat  )

it has long been known that candida/yeast thrives on sugar.

I just read about this in a magazine today.
It makes sense, because even when I am on a low carb day, I will crave sugar at the end of the day. SOMEthing is causing the daily sugar cravings, other than eating sugar during the day, as I had previously thought.
There is a supplement you can take in place of live-culture yogurt. (I hate yogurt) I will be trying it this weekend!!!
This is the kind of info that food mfg companies don't want you to have. Our cravings fill their pockets!!!

Yep, that woman wasn't lying. Been there done that. I'm rushing now so can't look it up but if you do a search for Candida Albicans, I've shared my story on how feeding fungus leads to recurrent yeast infections and other ailments you'd never even associate with yeast. And how you have to starve it off while taking stuff like Candex and other inhibitors, as well as supps that build you up. Candex is actually a supplement, if I'm not mistaken that include caprylic acid a fungal killer found in coconuts as well as I think acidophilus. (I'm guessing...coz that's what most yeast fighters contain: not just the killers but immunity boosters that help rebuild your body.
It's not an easy road getting out of that yeast control but when you're out, what a joy!

what she explained to you was correct. the ideal diet to have after having a colonic is to stick with whole foods (no unrefined or processed foods).

WOW! I took exactly two probiotic supplements that contain 10x the amt in a cup of yogurt each. I took one today and one yesterday. This it the type combat vaginal yeast, not intestinal.
Two scaly patches on my shoulders have cleared up, and each time i take a pill, the itchiness below the belt goes down, but it comes back after a few hours. Cutting down the processed carbs, though. I may up my dose of probiotics.

I've heard that it is true. And my friend gets yeast infections regularly. She learned from her allopathic doctor (can u believe it???) to cut back on all sugars and eat no carbs while on her miconazole and it would correct her condition quicker.
I want to know how she knew you had colon yeast. Could she see it coming out or something???? Yikes! And does the regular consumption of a garlic supplement in addition to probiotics (or a daily clove of fresh garlic peeeuuuuuw) help keep it under control?

Oh geez, now I see this was first written in 2005!

CHeckout yeastconnection.com Had a whole list of common syptoms associated with yeast infection. I had candida really bad...I went on a diet, detoxed and assed things like ACV, coconut oil, garlic, (actual garlic)and kefir to my daily regimen to keep it at bay. Cutting the carbs and simple sugars really helps but its hard because if you are abundant in yeast you will crave it. I know i did and still do but not as much.

Girl, Candida Albicans is da debil. It's the fungus behind yeast infections and candidiasis (including systemic candidiasis which is the one that causes all sorts of symptoms). Some conditions you'd never think are yeast related may just be, especially if your doctor tries over and over to treat something and it's not getting better. I have a friend with Lupus who also had yeast issues due to her medication and sort of blamed all her ill feeling on Lupus. Thank God that our doctor (we have the same doctor) does food sensitivity tests because she found out CA was reigning in her body and changed her diet and medication and has been doing so much better.
For me, I had a rash that wouldn't respond to creams, I was lethargic but didn't realize I was, my immunity was so low that I was guaranteed a cold whenever cold viruses were around. I couldn't be around mouldy places without feeling ill. My BMs were not regular but I didn't know anything was wrong with that. I was susceptible to UTI infections. So if I wasn't treating a vaginal yeast infection this week, then I was treating UTI which led to yeast infections thanks to antibiotics right afterwards. I'm sure I'm forgetting something but generally that was my life.
If you Google "Systemic Candidiasis" or "Candida Albicans" you can learn more about the havoc that something that normally lives dormant in us can cause when allowed to take over your body.
Here is an article that gives a good summary of what it's like when yeast goes haywire in your body: http://www.breathing.com/articles/candida.htm
And anyone who suspects that they have candidiasis should really get this book: Candida-Related Complex--What Your Doctor Might Be Missing (http://www.amazon.com/Candida-Related-Complex-Doctor-Might-Missing/dp/0878339353/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1232237385&sr=8-1)
Someone asked if the woman that did the colonics saw fungus coming out. Well, Candida Albicans lives in everyone's colon but when it mutates into the harmful sort, it will be in your stools, especially when you start trying to heal your body. It's whitish and mucousy and specks your poop. I feel sad just remembering how difficult the "die-off" was--that's when your body starts getting rid of it and starts its healing. It's not a fun experience but it passes and you feel better than you've ever felt.
The lady from whom I got my first lessons on naturopathy had such painful ab pains from yeast infections that she didn't even know when she was giving birth. Thought it was the usual pains she lives with daily. :nono: Da debil I tell ya! It was she who showed me the way to healing.

what were your dieoff symptoms?
The worst of it was the yeast infection. If you've ever had an awful one, multiply it by ten. I was so sore, itching was unbearing but you couldn't scratch coz you're swollen and it's oh so painful. I just curled up in fetal position and cried. I was drained and had trouble sleeping coz I was so uncomfortable. And felt so sad... I couldn't go anywhere because my secret garden was on fire. I also had UTI so peeing hurt both on the inside and on the outside coz my girl was sore. To be honest, I don't remember any of the other bad feelings coz that flame down there took all my attention. I remember I saw more specked poop then than ever before during the die-off...and had a lot of mucus in it. The worst of it lasted about 3 days...but I think it was about a week or so before I started to feel good. To be honest, the die-off is so hard that you almost want to give up and just live with CA coz although you felt bad, it wasn't that awful.
I was lucky to have a supportive BF...coz it will help if someone's there to keep you focused on the goal.
