Try this
Clean the area
Ice it
Apply a 2% salicylic acid product on it
Wait a few minutes then
Apply QH Mint Julep Mask on it or benzoyl peroxide, try Neutrogena On the Spot 2.5%, less chance of it drying out your skin and irritating it more
If its really swelling, take an ibuprofen to help bring down the swelling.

I agree with the post above but don't overdo it because all of those products (besides the ice) can be irritating and drying if used in excess...Be sure to wrap the ice in something, don't apply it directly to the skin...I haven't tried the aspirin mask but I heard it's good...good luck!

Try some Neosporin, but it did it's thing on it's own so that's good, it was probably the steam from the shower :)

What's the difference between a whitehead and a blackhead?
Blackheads
Blackheads, also known as open comedones, are follicles that have a wider than normal opening. They are filled with plugs of sebum and sloughed off cells and have undergone a chemical reaction resulting in the oxidation of melanin. This gives the material in the follicle the typical black color.

Whiteheads
Whiteheads, also known as closed comedones, are follicles that are filled with the same material, but have only a microscopic opening to the skin surface. Since the air cannot reach the follicle, the material is not oxidized, and remains white.
