I would like to visit a Dermatologist about my skin and how I can improve its appearance, but I don't know the first thing about them. What questions should I be sure to ask? Do they usually charge for consultations, and are they generally affordable or worth the money you pay? What goes on in the consultation? Can they give you natural solutions like tell you what vitamins & minerals you may be deficient in, etc.?
Thanks!

Hey girl!
Visiting a derm can be tricky business, but knowing exactly what you want before you go in can save you plenty of money.
I would definitely ask if they've worked with African American skin. Sometimes, they just don't know how delicate AA skin can be since it's prone to scarring.
The prices vary based on whether you have insurance. In a consultation they generally explain treatment options & answer questions. They can give natural solutions as well as prescriptions depending on where you go.
When are you going??

If you go see a dermatologist that would be considered a dr visit and more than likely will be a charge (unless they say otherwise). If you have insurance (and they accept yours) you will have to pay a co-pay. I would check before hand. Call the dr or insurance co.
My advice would be to write down all the questions you have and what you would like to achieve then he/she can give you options (peels, mircrodermabrasion, skin care) depending on what your issue are.
Personally I believe in regular facials/peels or microdermabrasion. I have been going to derms for years but my skin looks the best when I get regular facials.
