If you drive, I recommend christian Cultural Center, CCC. It's in Brooklyn on Flatlands Ave. and Pennsylvania. its non-denomination.

Please ya'll, do not go to any ole' church somebody suggests to you. Ya'll need to be lead to that church by God. Pray about ANY church you are thinking about attending/becoming a member of.
Remember, just 'cause its a church doesn't mean that it is lead by the spirit. ;)

When I am in NYC I attend "TLC" The Lord's Church in the Bronx at 3rd & E 180th (down from St Barnados Hospital) . There is a pastor by the name of Carl Malone based in Florida that I have enjoyed during visits at TLC. Bethel Full Gospel Church 14440 Lincoln Boulevard Miami, FL 33176 (305) 235-7423. Good luck on your search.

Well, if you want to visit a baptist church; abysinnian baptist church is in harlem on 138th between lenox and adam clayton powell. I went there often while I lived in harlem and I liked it but I wasnt very involved. The other church I go to in nyc is times square church which is non denominational and located in the times sq. area, I really like it but also dont feel its my home church. Ive been visiting both churches but haven't really connected, I recommend visiting both of them. They both have websites Im not sure about abysinian so google it but tsc is www.timessquarechurch.com

thanks everyone for all of your help. i am happy that i found this site because i have been wanting to go to church for the longest and it is difficult when you don't know an area or the people living there very well. i am very shy and feel a lttle awkward just walking into a random church without knowing a little about how that particular church functions. thanks again. :)

I'd like to thank you for the referral, although not directed to me. I too have not been to church in quite awhile and am in search for a church home. Today I visited TLC of the Bronx; and really enjoyed the service.
Again thanks, Latia, it was truly a blessing.

You are welcome. Oh my goodness you went!! Pastor McDaniels is great and an inspiration. They have revival's that are just food for the soul. I visited a friends church yesterday and I found a home after only one visit. I will be joining next Sunday and can't wait to get active in this church family. God sho is good. Thank you Lord!:)

How about the Brooklyn Tabernacle? I really enjoy going there, very uplifting and have enjoyed a few of Pastor Cymabala's books. Their women's prayer group is good as well....Also I agree that the CCC and Abyssinian are good choices.

How are they going to decide on a church if they don't go visit a few times or a few churches they got referral for? I have been looking for a church home since the early 90's. It took alot of visits and many years for me to find a home. I joined a church a year and a half ago. I never took the partnership classes because God didn't guide me that far because something was lacking there for me. I couldn't put my exact finger on it but last week after one visit I know this is where I need to be to grow in my spiritual walk. My friend the choir director has know what I have been going through at the church I joined. She has been telling come and check us out for almost the same time I have been attending my church. I prefer smaller growing churchs over mega churches because I need a Pastor to be touchable, real, reachable and a one on one style Pastor that was the type of church I was nurtured in. I realize I need that old time religion in the trenches style church experience. I don't want a church that is accepting of bad behavior. I need my soul saved not my face.

Bethel Gospel Assembly on 120th & Madison.
Boy O Boy do I wish I could go to CCC - it's a 10 minute drive from my house. Although I have enjoyed the services I have attended there, I drive to Harlem to BGA. That's just where God wants me to be.
